Natural boar bristles
The natural bristles are gained from a special breed of pig (Sus scorfa). They are located in the highlands of China (Sichuan / Himalayas) and live from an altitude of 2500 meters upwards. They are held free outdoors.

Pigs are raised for food, so the bristles are a byproduct of the meat industry. Due to its special breed of pig and extreme climatic conditions, China has a more or less natural monopoly on this valuable raw material.

After the animals are slaughtered for meat, the bristles are collected, cleaned and disinfected to meet European Export Regulations. After the cleaning processes, the bristles are sorted according to the length. The longer the bristles are, the stiffer they are and the more expensive they are.
