After one week, increase use to nightly, then twice daily as tolerated or as advised by a skincare professional. Avoid direct contact with eyes and lips. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water. Do not use on broken or irritated skin. Use sparingly and do not use every day until your skin has adjusted. Common reactions to retinol can include minor to moderate redness, flaking, and stinging. If this occurs, discontinue use of the product for a few days. If irritation develops and lasts, stop use and ask your doctor. If you have never used retinol products before, limit use to twice a week, then gradually increase frequency, from every other night, to once an evening, and finally to twice a day, as tolerated. Retinol is prone to increase photosensitivity. Always use a broad-spectrum sunscreen when using products containing retinol and continue sunscreen use for 1 week after stopping retinol use.
