I take a bit on a cotton pad and place it over my lashes for a few seconds before gently removing my eye makeup. I have sensitive eyes, but this was surprisingly gentle on my skin and lashes. Doesn't irritate your eye makeup. I will buy it again. Not all mascaras come off right away. You have to clean several times to remove other brands' mascaras.
