This is an AHA acid (glycolic acid) that exfoliates the skin quite effectively. When the skin is not used to acids or if the skin barrier is a bit sensitive at first, it can cause redness, stinging, and small bumps as a reaction. So itâs not uncommon, but itâs a sign that it was overstimulated that one time. Then itâs good to pause the product until the skin has completely calmed down and then reintroduce it much more carefully, for example once a week and always with good moisturizing afterward. If the skin continues to react like this even with careful use, it might be better to choose a milder acid, like PHA, which is usually gentler on sensitive skin.
