Great for very dry hair
I've started a hair journey and am focusing on testing products to find a good hair routine. I have dry and frizzy hair and need to add moisture and oil so my hair doesn't look so dry, and I've tried this a few nights and like it. I apply it to the lengths and finish with a few drops of oil. I put on my "silk cap" and hop into bed. My hair feels moisturized when I wake up, but I can also feel that it weighs down a bit after using it several nights in a row. Really like this one! I usually just squeeze out the worst of the water from my hair and then turn this on while I dry my body and moisturize. Less frizz
I would definitely say that this reduces frizz and retains moisture and shine in the hair BUT it doesn't hold up well overnight. If you have a lot of thick hair, I don't think this is for you at all because I have very little and thin hair and it's okay for me. Overnight hair mask?
I have used the previous version 1-2 days a month as an overnight mask. Can I do the same with this one? Why should I shampoo after and not before? As I’ve learned, shampoo opens the hair strand, then you apply the mask, and when rinsing, finish with conditioner to close the hair strand again? The comment was made 1 monthHi Jess! 👋🏼😊 I totally understand how you think 🤍 Both water and shampoo affect the hair’s cuticle – water actually causes the hair strand, the cuticle, to open slightly, while shampoo cleans the hair and removes oils and any buildup from the hair’s surface. The great thing about Olaplex No.3 is that it’s a bit different from a regular hair mask. It’s a repairing treatment that works on the hair’s bonds, and therefore you want it to have the best possible conditions to work in the hair. If you have hair without much styling product or buildup, it’s enough to dampen the hair with water, apply No.3, then rinse out, shampoo, and finish with conditioner. However, if you use a lot of styling products, it’s good to shampoo first so the hair is properly clean before applying the treatment 😊 Regarding using it as an overnight mask, I totally understand why you think that way; many want to give their hair extra long time with a nourishing product. However, No.3 is designed to work for about 3–10 minutes, and a longer treatment time does not give a stronger repairing effect. Lovely consistency
Walked past this in the store and couldn't resist buying it. The product and packaging appealed to me. The product has a lovely consistency, kind of like a hybrid between a lip mask and lip oil, I would say. Expected a sweet scent but was a bit disappointed that it was fragrance-free, but actually I think scents don't belong on the face so I'm still positive about that.
