    Amount of retinal?

I am an experienced retinol user who has so far used 1% retinol, 6-7 times a week for 2 years. It is said that retinal is more potent than retinol, but what percentage of retinal is in this product? And what is the highest allowed amount of retinal in Norway?

Hi Linda 😊 Retinal is one step closer to the active form vitamin A than retinol, which means it can be more effective in the skin. At the same time, the strength depends a lot on how the product is formulated. The serum contains 2% retinal liposomes, but that does not mean the product contains 2% pure active retinal. Liposome technology is used to encapsulate the retinal so that it becomes more stable and can be better delivered into the skin, which makes the effect feel strong despite a lower actual active amount. In the EU, a new law will be introduced by 2027 at the latest. With these new restrictions, body creams will be allowed to contain a maximum of 0.05% retinol equivalents, and other products such as face creams will be allowed to contain a maximum of 0.3% retinol equivalents. Since you already use 1% retinol as regularly as you do, retinal can be experienced as a more effective step up, but that does not necessarily mean you have to start more cautiously, rather that the skin may respond faster to results. Have a nice day! 💌

    Approximate product

I was originally looking for ISNTREE - Hyper Retinol EX 1.0 Serum. But their AI function sent me to this product. I am an experienced retinol user and use it for anti-aging. Is this an approximate product, or can you recommend another?

    Together with retinol?

Can this be used together with the retinol serum as a night cream, or is it better to use the polypeptide cream? I am 43 years old and use it for anti-aging and large pores.

Hi Linda 👋 Yes, Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream can definitely be used together with a retinol serum as a night cream 😴 It is rich, moisturizing, and formulated with six different plant oils and ceramides, which help to strengthen the skin barrier – something that is very beneficial when using retinol, as retinol can be drying or irritating. This makes Lala Retro a good choice for you if you want to use retinol for anti-aging and pores. Recommendation based on your skin and goals: Since you are 43 years old and focusing on anti-aging and large pores, and using retinol: ✅ Use Lala Retro together with retinol on the evenings you use it, to soothe the skin and support the barrier. ✅ Use Protini on evenings without retinol (or in the morning), to benefit from the peptides without overloading the skin. If you want a combination of both, you can also mix them (Drunk Elephant calls it "smoothie") – but start gently, especially with retinol. Wishing you a nice day ahead 🥰

    How much Retinol?

There are so many retinol serums where it doesn't say how many percent of retinol it contains. For those of us who have built up a high tolerance for retinol and use it almost every night, it would be nice to know. I use Ordinary Retinol 1% in squalane almost every night. I am 43 years old and use it for anti-aging and because I have large pores. I want to try something else. Is this something for me?

Hi Linda 👋 It contains 0.5% retinol (pure retinol), dissolved in virgin marula oil! 😍 This is a milder formula than, for example, The Ordinary Retinol 1% in Squalane, both in strength and in how it feels on the skin – much thanks to the oil base that makes it more nourishing and less irritating. It is developed to be mild but effective over time, and is well-suited for those who want to combine retinol with moisture and nourishment, and perhaps have sensitive or drier skin. ✅ A-Gloei is good – but milder than what you are using now. ✅ Can be nice as a "night oil with bonus retinol" on calm evenings. ❌ Not the best choice if you want to increase the effect on aging and pores. If you already tolerate 1% retinol well and want more effect, A-Gloei is probably not an upgrade product, but a more nourishing alternative you can use on rest nights, or when your skin needs a milder retinol variant.
