Not as effective as the previous one from Elixir
I used to buy Elixir's SOS cleanser regularly, which is supposed to be the same/equivalent to this one. I have now bought this and used it for a few weeks. Unfortunately, I don't experience the same effect with this. I used the cleanser instead of Elixir's SOS paste, which has now become face formula, because it was cheaper. It helped keep perioral dermatitis in check and removed early PD outbreaks almost overnight if I applied a thin layer when an outbreak started to appear, and it effectively dried out pimples or pimples that had popped overnight. I knew it was very drying and could irritate the skin, so when I cleansed my face, I often mixed it with La Roche-Posay Toleriane Rosaliac Gelée Micellaire cleanser. Overnight, I only applied a thin layer on exposed areas or dabbed a little on pimples with a cotton swab. I don't experience as good an effect with this one, but I don't dare try other cleansers, as I have tried many different brands and products before for my skin that have worsened PD/damaged the skin barrier too much (effective against pimples but worsened PD), or products that caused pimples but were soothing for PD. I think it's really unfortunate when I finally found a product that helped, but now after using this, I get PD flare-ups again and have to use prescription cream again (which can only be used for a short time at a time so the effect of the cream doesn't wear off). I have severe PD and have had to use antibiotics to calm it down as it spread all over my face, as well as down my neck and chest. I see a clear difference between the previous product and this one, in that this one is a bit lighter in yellow color and has small grains. The first one I had was a bit thicker in consistency, and then the newer ones became a bit more liquid in consistency and the color was clearly yellow. I don't know what changes have been made, but I know that the one from Elixir was not meant as a daily cleanser, as it could irritate and create small lumps in the skin over time, while I see this one can be used every day. I am using this one for now, as I said I don't dare to use another, but I must say I miss the previous version of Elixir.71 views
