Chemical or mineral? 🏖
I see a comment here describing it as a hybrid chemical-mineral. What does that mean? Are there chemical filters in this in addition to zinc oxide? Is that common? When it’s called "hybrid," it’s due to butyloctyl salicylate, which can help stabilize/formulate the sunscreen but is not classified as an active chemical UV filter in the ingredient list. That’s why some describe it as "hybrid" in reviews, but it doesn’t mean the manufacturer officially states that it contains chemical UV filters. The point of mineral sun protection is still met. What a great product!!!
I have some dark spots due to heavy sun exposure during my adolescence, because of that I’ve tried many different sunblocks, and this is one of my favorites, if not the one. I have a great dermatologist and she indicates that people with dark spots have to use the maximum coverage possible to protect the skin and the best product for that is a mineral sunscreen, so mineral sunscreen is a must without a doubt. And, if it’s a mineral sunscreen, of course it leaves white cast, but this one it’s not at all like the others in the same category, it only leaves a little bit of. If you want the best to protect my skin, this one is the best for that. It doesn’t feel heavy, sticky or greasy, it leaves my skin smooth and looks really healthy, mosturized yet with semi matte finish. It’s like my skin but better. White cast
It’s a hybrid chemical-mineral sunscreen, but leaves such a heavy white cast that I won’t be able to use it. Would have been better off going for a 100% mineral filter if I was going to accept this level of white cast.
