    Are sulfates suddenly good?

Why are all these Loreal Elvital shampoos and conditioners (different types, not just this one) so hyped right now? They contain sulfates, for example, and there is so much talk about how they are not good for hair?

Hey Cliara! 👋🏽 I think the hype around L’Oréal Paris Elvital right now is about several things at once 😊 Firstly, L’Oréal has been good at jumping on trends, like the “skinification” of hair. That means using ingredients we recognize from skincare (like hyaluronic acid, etc.). This makes the products feel more advanced and attracts many to try them. Also, they are very affordable and easy to get, which makes more people dare to try, and then the hype spreads quickly, especially via social media. When it comes to sulfates, it’s a bit more nuanced. Sulfates are effective cleansing ingredients that can be great for, for example, oily scalp or if you want a really “clean” feeling. At the same time, they can feel a bit drying for some hair types, especially if you have dry, damaged, or curly hair. So I would say the hype doesn’t necessarily mean the products are “perfect for everyone,” but more that they give quick and noticeable results, they suit many hair types (but not all), and mainly that they are right on trend. That’s probably why you see both super positive and more critical opinions at the same time 😊 Have a lovely day! 🌞💃🏽

    Silicones

Smells very strong and the hair becomes heavy and stringy. And... wasn't it said that one should avoid silicones (this contains dimethicone which is not water-soluble)..? People here in LYKO comments usually protest when products contain it, but now suddenly no one mentions it and this leave-in is just being praised wildly??

Hey Karin! 😃👋🏻 Thank you for your honest review! 😊 Yes, the leave-in you mentioned actually contains dimethicone and amodimethicone, so it is not silicone-free. Silicones can provide shine and make hair easier to detangle, but they can also make hair feel heavy, especially if too much is used or applied close to the roots 💕 If you find that your hair becomes stringy, it might be a good idea to use a clarifying shampoo occasionally to remove product buildup. You can also try applying a smaller amount and focusing on the lengths and ends. For those who are sensitive to scents, the fragrance of the product may be perceived as strong, so it’s completely understandable if it affects your experience. I hope this clarifies a bit more about the product! If you want tips on alternatives that might suit your hair type better, feel free to check out our free hair test in the Lyko app! 🌟 Take care! 🌞

    Greasy and sticky

It might be good, but...no, I would never buy such an expensive face cream that feels completely sticky on the face and never sinks in - that's my reaction to this... I got a sample of the cream because I wanted to buy a really good anti-aging day cream and have tried it. I can't go around with such a greasy cream on my face during the day (especially if you're in menopause and sometimes get sweaty on your face...) It gets even worse if you have foundation etc. on top. I don't want to use it as a night cream either since it doesn't feel fresh. I also tried the gel variant, but that's for combination/oily skin and I don't have that (I have normal skin) - it was somewhat better, but even that was quite sticky. Many here say that the jar is so pretty and luxurious, but personally, I find it completely uninteresting in this context.

Hey Cliara! ❤ It doesn't seem like this became a favorite for you at all, and it's great that you got a test first so you could try it! It seems like it's a rich cream, and that doesn't suit everyone's skin. If you don't have another one that you like, I can warmly recommend that you do our skin test, which you can find in the Lyko app under the search function - Beauty Scan in the Lyko app ✨ There are our skin therapists who always want to help find the right one. Thank you for your review! Have a lovely day 🍁

    decolletage?

Can you use it on the decolletage too? I have a bit of uneven color and wrinkles there (due to too much sun, I assume..), so that would be good. I'm wondering if the skin there is too sensitive for the acids? But it's probably about the same sensitivity there as on the face, right..?

    No scent

Just ordered one and received it. Haven't had a chance to use it yet, but I notice that it doesn't smell like anything at all :-/. Is it supposed to be completely unscented or is there something wrong with it? Looking forward to a fresh scent ..

    Positively surprised 🙂

Just bought it, so I've only had a chance to use it a couple of times, but it seems good :). (Had Davines Oi Oil before but wanted to find something cheaper, so I'm trying this.) I was thinking of asking about the fact that it contains silicones - how does that affect the hair - can it damage the hair, do you have to use some deep cleansing shampoo in between because of the oil (I hate that kind of shampoo, the hair gets awful from it) or ..? It seems like several in the comments say they've used it for a long time and that they think their hair is doing well, so it can't be that dangerous with the silicones in it..?

    smells bad

I just bought it, but after two uses I don't want to use it anymore because it smells weird :-/. And I mean the cream itself, like even before you apply it.. Also disgusting color and consistency with lumps in it. Could there be something wrong with it? (It can't be too old, because it says 08-2026 on it.)

Hello there Cliara 🤗 The product contains lactic acid bacteria, which can of course smell a bit different.. the product also contains no perfume. The consistency is a bit grainy, so it doesn't sound like there's anything wrong with it according to your description. Feel free to check out the pictures on our website, the last three pictures clearly show the image and consistency🙌 lyko.com/sv/ellen/ellen-probiotic-cream-15-ml If you suspect that there is something wrong with the one you received, you are of course welcome to register a complaint request via my pages, you can find your way there via this link 👉 lyko.com/sv/mina-sidor
