So much stress and preparation just to dye my hair, I have never experienced before. I was supposed to dye my hair three days ago and found out by reading the instructions that you couldn't wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner while rinsing out the color. Ideally, you should wash your hair 48 hours beforehand. Totally ridiculous since I have extremely set shower days and hair washing days, but since I did NOT want a «you have to follow the instructions for it to work» type of comment if the color didn't work, I decided to actually follow the instructions to the absolute letter. Pre-serums stink, in case anyone is as scent-sensitive as I am. Worse with the color itself, as it contains ammonia. Enough to knock out Mike Tyson. But… all this should be worth it if the color holds. I dyed all my hair. But as you can see, the roots turned more orange. This isn't necessarily bothersome now, but it could be in the future. Bleaching is not an option for me, as I have urticaria. But I am blonde under all these layers of red. I wash my hair once a week (sometimes less). What I was puzzled by was that it said in the instructions to rinse the hair until no more color ran. And again… since I was going to follow the instructions to the letter, I stood in the shower for half an hour rinsing and rinsing… despite the fact that I know, as a long-time fake ginger, that proper red hair dye never stops running red, and we can't sit on light sofas with wet hair or wear white clothes with damp hair or sweat - because we leave behind something that can look like nothing less than a crime scene. This bonding hair treatment that you are supposed to finish the whole coloring session with was the main reason you couldn't use shampoo and conditioner in the shower on color day. But what happens when you stop rinsing after 30 minutes, chill a bit with the bonding treatment for the recommended time, to rinse it out? No, but it was like dyeing it again… even more red falls down the drain and I rinse like crazy until it runs out of hot water and a little more. In other words, this hair color is not unique in that sense, my towel looks like murder evidence, like all other brands. And regardless of whether I like it or not, I will be stuck with it for two more months, because I bought three of them. That said… The other colors I have tried in here suck all the moisture out of my hair. THIS ONE did not. It didn't feel heavy or light after rinsing. The smell of the bonding treatment was NOT overwhelming, but rather pleasant compared to the color itself and the pre-serum. So… an actual review will come in a month (or earlier if it turns out that four washes a month is too much for the color). This is just a first impression. I might hate it, and it might become my new go-to color! 🙂 Thanks for coming to my ted talk.
