If you want the most controlled volume and a bit more shape, go for a brush around 35–38 mm. It's easier to handle if you're not used to round brushes. Very hard bristles
I have a larger round brush from GHD, and this is my reference point. I needed a smaller one to specifically style my bangs. But I feel that this brush in comparison has much harder bristles, which scratch very hard on my scalp. I'm used to there being no problems at all. I also have a harder time getting my bangs to sit right. I get the feeling that the heat in the metal under the bristles doesn't distribute the heat evenly, which makes my bangs look vääääldigt different on the left/right side.
