  German quality makes shaving a pleasure

  Hefty in the hand, this is quality through and through. I took the jump into double blade traditional shaving with the R89 and have enjoyed every second. A small investment in blades, the excellent Proraso pre-shave, soaps and balms has changed shaving from a chore to a pleasure that I look forward to. After a lifetime of Gillette multiblades, the change has been eye opening. Barber quality shaves, no razor burns and a new routine that is meditative and luxurious. I wish I had done this years ago.
  
  This is a mild shaving razor, meaning it is gentle in its cutting and may require a few passes to get your face clean. It would be excellent for a beginner to this type of shaving, light to medium beard growth and feels very safe when used correctly.
  
  Tips:
  The razor comes with a sample Muhle blade which is suitable for a light to medium beard. It is suitable for a beginner. You will need to change blades every 4-6 shaves
  
  Shark blades are from Egypt and are also kind to beginners and still offer an excellent shave. Maybe the best first time user blades you can get.
  
  Try different blades but stay away from Feather! They are best of all blades, but not for beginners. (Shark, Derby, Personna Blue, Astra is a good mix to try out. They are in order of sharpness and friendliness)
  
  Use a pre-shave cream or oil! This makes a huge difference to the quality of the shave.
  Get a shaving brush and some real shaving cream or soap. The blue gel from a can is just not good enough.
  
  TAKE YOUR TIME. Do not rush like you might with a multiblade. Watch a few videos on traditional shaving and know that the first few shaves will be a learning experience. After 4 or 5 shaves you will notice how much better the shave is as your technique improves.
  
  Let the razor do the work, you do not need to press against your face. The weight of the razor is enough. Short strokes, always perpendicular to the surface.
  
  You always need to do 2 or 3 passes over your face with this sort of razor. 1 to get the beard down, 2 to make it clean, 3 to get baby smooth.
