50% of all people experience dandruff at some point in their lives. Hjärtligt® Dandruff Defense Shampoo is an organic anti-dandruff shampoo that both treats and prevents dandruff.

The dandruff-fighting extract in the shampoo is derived from the bark of the Ziziphus joazeiro tree and has antibacterial and antifungal properties. Combined with strengthening and protective biosaccharides from fermented plants (which act somewhat like a protective “bandage”), it allows the scalp to repair itself and regain its natural balance.

Moisturizes and conditions
With the help of moisture-binding sorbitol and panthenol (vitamin B5), both hair and scalp remain hydrated.

Why do I get dandruff and how can I prevent it?
Dandruff is caused by a fungus naturally present on our skin. However, if the microbiome becomes imbalanced for various reasons, the fungus can more easily “take over” and cause problems. Factors that can disrupt this balance include antibiotic treatments, hormonal changes, seasonal shifts, stress, medications, allergies, or the use of harsh hair care products.

It’s also helpful to know that there are two types of dandruff: a dry type where flakes fall off easily (often landing on your shoulders), and an oily type where flakes remain on the scalp.

How to treat dandruff:

Start using Hjärtligt’s Dandruff Defense range (3 products) to treat the condition
Avoid using styling products or other hair products during the first 3 weeks of treatment
Do not wear tight hats, caps, or beanies
Let your hair and scalp breathe; if you have long hair, sleep with it loose
After 4 weeks, you can switch to the original range (shampoo/conditioner) or the HS range (shampoo/conditioner). If the problem returns periodically, restart the dandruff treatment for 4–6 weeks

Avoid perfumed and harsh products going forward. Choose fragrance-free styling and hair/scalp care, and postpone coloring, bleaching, or perming until the scalp has regained balance.

The dandruff range can also be used if you are unsure whether the dandruff is caused by fungal overgrowth or another imbalance, as it provides strong protection for the scalp and supports its natural healing process.

How to Use:

Apply the shampoo to wet hair and work up a rich lather. Leave it on for a minute, then rinse thoroughly. Repeat once more. Then use Hjärtligt Dandruff Defense Conditioner. Finish with Dandruff Defense Treatment Gel.
