American Crew

Fun product. You can build bizarre volume with it, or at least the illusion of bizarre volume with a lot of height. I don't know if the product actually makes the hair thicker? In the picture, I didn't do anything extreme, just a regular quiff/pompadour. You can build _much_ more height and volume with this product if you want. The product is also quite okay for flattening the hair as well, on the sides for example, surprisingly good control overall. But, I personally use pomade as a top coat for the whole hairstyle (a little extra shine since the powder is basically completely matte, and to fix the hair strands in place and finally to slick the sides a bit more). Well, 5/5, it's both a fun and good product.

American Crew is a quality brand. American Crew is a quality brand in the sense that they never release a bad product. American Crew doesn't have the absolute best and most recognized products in hair nerd circles, but they have a high baseline. In fact, a completely watertight and solid baseline, and that's what you pay for when you buy a product from American Crew. Basically, you can blind buy all their products regardless of product category, have you never tried a water-based pomade? Try American Crew's. It's not the best, not the most talked about in the nerdy pomade community, and definitely not the cheapest. But if you want to try something new and aren't keen on finding just your favorite among hundreds of different products from hundreds of different brands – try American Crew. It will work! American Crew's Heavy Hold Pomade smells generally fresh. I manage to sense notes of lavender and a light citrus hint at the top, but otherwise, it's hard for me to pinpoint more scent notes, it smells quite generic barber shop clean scent 💈 If you want to match hair product with perfume, why not Jean Paul Gaultier's Le Male (1995). They go well together. But generally, it's not as crucial to match scent for water-based pomades as it is for oil-based pomades (the perfume lasts much longer in oil-based products). And that was about it for the most part, in the picture I'm rocking a pretty typical Elvis hairstyle, in my opinion the best look for this type of product, even though you can go for a more modern wet look. The product does what it should and what it promises, it simply works. But it doesn't get a full score as the price is astronomically high. But, it does what it promises!
