Ordered 3 different variants of Sun Bum sunscreen, one for the face and 2 for the body before my trip to Bali. The bottles are nice, handy, and smell really good. But when it comes to sun protection, I have to say it’s the worst I’ve ever used.
Since it’s the rainy season here in Bali, the humidity is terribly high. That’s why I chose this brand, as they should work in subtropical environments. The sunscreen sweats off quickly/chunks and rolls off, it disappears as soon as you’ve bathed. After a few hours, I noticed how I was completely red and dotted with rashes. I gave it a 4-day trial, and it was the same story every day… I did everything by the book, applied it 30 minutes before going outdoors,
On clean skin, let it dry in before putting on swimwear/clothes… I use the highest SPF to avoid burning, I don’t lie in direct sunlight, I stay in the shade… but still get the same result.
Now I’ve had to buy new stuff down here, at a price of 4 times as much as at home. Plus, Sun Bum is going in the trash because it doesn’t work in this type of climate for which it’s intended…

- rolls off like little white sausages from the skin
- Doesn’t hold up if you bathe/stay in water, disappears immediately from the body.
- You burn yourself on the purchase of this, even though you apply it several times a day.
- Even if you’re not sensitive in the skin, the risk is high that you’ll get dotted like a dalmatian but with red spots.
So please don’t ruin your vacation with these products, buy something you know works and rather invest in well-known brands!
