Should I become a writer?
Ah, Greenley from Parfums de Marly – a scent so green, so fresh, and so immediately seductive that you almost feel transported to an idyllic orchard, where leaves rustle softly in the breeze and juicy apples hang heavily from the branches. Let’s start with a praise, for this is a perfume that, at first encounter, truly seduces the senses in an almost magical way. The first impression? A radiant explosion of green apple, almost as if someone has squeezed the juice directly into the air. It’s sharp, but in a refreshing way, like a cool breeze on a warm summer day. The apple tones are followed by a subtle bergamot and mandarin that provide a tangy balance, and before you know it, you feel enveloped in an aura of freshness that can make anyone feel both energetic and relaxed at the same time. And then come the heart notes, where the green theme continues with notes of cedar and cashmere. This gives the fragrance a kind of luxurious depth, but at the same time, it remains light, airy, and almost effortless. Here, Greenley strikes an almost perfect balance between elegance and everyday accessibility. It’s like a shirt made of the finest linen; you can wear it in any situation, but it will always make you feel a little more sophisticated, a little more special. The base is solid, with a subtle touch of oakmoss and amber that adds depth without losing the fresh character. It all feels like a kind of symphony where all the notes play perfectly together, as if the composer himself has been out picking the freshest ingredients on a sunny morning. Greenley manages to be complex, yet incredibly wearable and light – it’s a perfume that doesn’t demand too much, but also never disappoints. But then, when we really start to dive in, we see that Greenley is not without its flaws. Ah, yes, for here the facade begins to crack, and all that tempting green turns out to be as thin as a leaf-thin facade of mediocrity. For when we first reach the depth – or, shall we say, the lack of depth – one quickly notices that this scent is like an apple without the seeds. It starts fresh but ends up as a disappointing, empty shell. After a couple of hours, it almost completely disappears, and the little that remains reminds one of a cheap air freshener – yes, one of those you find hanging in a random taxi. And let’s talk about the price. Paying a premium sum for a scent that, for the most part, evaporates as quickly as a wet towel in the Sahara feels like a robbery in broad daylight. Greenley promises so much, but delivers so little in the long run. It’s like buying a gourmet meal, only to realize it tastes like fast food after the first bite. Parfums de Marly, what have you really done here? A scent that promises forests and apple orchards, but ends up smelling like someone sprayed a little water with lemon scent and called it a day. So, dear Greenley, you are beautiful at first sniff, but alas, the disappointment that follows is almost unbearable. Why be so short-lived? Why let us dream of green apple and forest, only to leave us with a hint of… well, little more than regret and the bitter taste of money that could have been better spent.Translated from norwegian

Hmmm
Roja Parfums Parfum De La Nuit 1 – too trivial, would be committing a serious sin against the collective of perfume lovers. For here we have a bottle that, with its price tag of 14,955 kr, offers not just a scent, but an experience, a feeling of owning something that transcends the material. So let’s dive into this extravagance and give a, shall we say, ample description. First of all, let’s linger on the bottle design. This is not just any container, but a sparkling treasure in itself, a kind of jewel for the bathroom or bedroom shelf, no matter where one chooses to place it. It has this golden glow, as if it knows it is worth its weight in gold, and it is crowned with black gemstone-like tops that give it a majestic touch. It’s almost like a ceremony to just look at the bottle, as if it itself proclaims its significance before you even open it. But when you first dare to open – yes, here you must almost think of a theatrical opening moment, perhaps in a room where the light is dimmed, and the anticipation is built up to a breaking point. The expectation of what this precious nectar actually brings. First scent notes – and here you must almost pause, for this is not a simple and easily interpretable scent, oh no, far from it. This is a composition of oriental, mystical notes that takes you to a world where the night never ends, a world of silk, dark velvet, and secret, stolen glances in the shadows. The feeling of applying this perfume is like wrapping yourself in an invisible cloak – not a heavy, impenetrable cloak, but rather a light and sophisticated cloud of confidence and allure. Imagine notes of spices, possibly saffron and cinnamon, that give a feeling of warmth, but at the same time a kind of distance. It’s almost like being near a fire without feeling the flame. And then come the more subtle layers of floral hints – not the typical, light flowers, but perhaps something earthier, like jasmine or tuberose, something that sets the imagination in motion and makes the mind wander. And then – ah, the base notes. Here we find something rich and decadent, perhaps something like amber and oud, yes, it must be oud – the mysterious, almost hypnotic scent that always gives a hint of darkness, like a night sky without stars. Maybe a touch of vanilla to round it all off, but not the sweet, naive vanilla you find in commercial scents – no, here we are talking about a dark, almost smoky vanilla, the kind that holds back a little, just like this perfume as a whole. But who is this perfume really for? This is no everyday scent. This is something you wear when you want to make an impression, when you’re going out and want the whole room to turn to you as you enter. It’s a scent for those who are comfortable being mysterious, perhaps a little unattainable. For some, it may be a reminder of everything that is unattainable, but for others – yes, for the right person – this is a scent that transforms them into something almost mythical. So yes, 14,955 kr may seem like a staggering sum, but it’s not just money for perfume. It’s money for an illusion, for a journey, for the feeling of being something more, if only for a night. But what do you think? Do you believe the scent can live up to the expectations, or is it simply too much of a good thing?Translated from norwegian

Yeah yeah
It was one of those days, you know, where the sun is kind of only halfway in the mood to shine. I strolled down towards the beach, without really any specific direction, just my feet in the sand, one step at a time. I could feel the wind that was neither too strong nor too weak – just right to move my hair, but not enough to make anyone feel alive, if you know what I mean. And there stood my bike, a bit rusty, but always faithful. I got on and started pedaling, but to say I was cycling around would be an exaggeration. It was more like a kind of random rolling. The wheels rolled slowly, almost hesitantly, and I let them guide me, without goal or meaning. The road stretched out before me, and the landscape was the same no matter where I looked – it was kind of completely quiet, and yet there was something… boring, but in such a comforting way. No rush, no noise, just this slow, almost numbing feeling of gliding through a moment that will never pass. Just me, the bike, and this endless, gray sky that really didn’t care about anything at all.Translated from norwegian
