Lernberger Stafsing: Blowout Styling Cream
A bit of a mix between hair mousse and fiber cream, or hair mousse and cream pomade. That is, the product's function is actually literally established by the product's name—something I appreciate. One might think it should be obvious that a product is of such character—that you can deduce purpose and function from the product's name or packaging in general, maybe with a picture if nothing else, but that is not the case. But with Lernberger Stafsing: Blowout Styling Cream, you can. Blowout: yes, I think of Cindy Crawford's iconic Pepsi commercial from 1991 == hair mousse. Styling Cream: yes, I think of styling cream! It can mean a few different things, but it is clear that it is a 2 in 1 product. Success! In the picture, I have created a modernized 50s hairstyle, rock-a-billy if you will. But there is much more you can do. I applied the product to relatively wet hair, then in with the blow dryer and feed. Head upside down, high heat. Then it's just to brush and comb! You don't get as much volume as with a mousse, but you get more control to fix details. In my case, I wanted volume on top and flat on the sides. The product works excellently for that. The product gets 4/5 because it is simply good and works as you can expect from the name. But it doesn't get 5/5 because it is quite expensive, and you can actually make the product yourself with a two-step rocket: use regular hair mousse and then a cream or wax product. Something I often do myself. But, if you don't want to mix products yourself and find it cumbersome: try Lernberger Stafsing Blowout Styling Cream.1 product in post Lernberger Stafsing: Blowout Styling Cream141 views - The post was made 3 weeksRating: 4 out of 5verified customer
Shine Pomade No 104 Tobacco Vanilla
A really good water-based pomade. Easy to use, easy to apply. Excellent scent profile! Beats most other pomades in terms of scent. The scent is basically a pretty mature boomer scent accord, but the vanilla note in the scent is cranked up nicely, making it a more genuine gourmand scent overall and generally a more modern and sweeter scent profile. The pomade actually has a matching perfume from Nõberu that you can buy here on LYKO. And the scent is really good, so feel free to match it with that. Otherwise, I can recommend, for example, Viktor & Rolf: Spicebomb Extreme (2015) as well. They pair well together! Final thoughts: affordable product, well-scented product, and it simply does the job with the hair. But for me personally, the amount of shine in the product is a bit on the low side. Low shine product, or even a matte finish in pomade terms. Nothing wrong with that, but at least I expect something different from a product that emphasizes shine in its name.1 product in post Shine Pomade No 104 Tobacco Vanilla501 views - The post was made 1 monthRating: 5 out of 5
Brylcreem
Timeless classic. As a stand-alone product, it’s a bit tricky, it has almost no hold. Even though I’ve seen people rock a pompadour using only this. Something I regularly use it for is as a top coating, I apply a thin layer with my palms (I apply very lightly, my hands should barely touch the hair). And then you get incredible shine in the hair even for products that have no shine. And yes, why would you want to do that? Why not just buy a product that already has shine? The answer to that is simple. Brylcreem has exceptional shine. There is no clay that has as high shine as Brylcreem. But, if you want the texture from clay but still have a bit of Old Hollywood shine, apply a little Brylcreem afterward. Which is exactly what I did in the picture. Finally, I want to say that Brylcreem smells very good, quite similar to Davidoff Cool Water (1988). They go very well together. And Brylcreem is cheap 💯1 product in post Brylcreem225 views - The post was made 1 monthRating: 5 out of 5
American Crew: Boost Powder™️
Fun product. You can build bizarre volume with it, or at least the illusion of bizarre volume with a lot of height. I don't know if the product actually makes the hair thicker? In the picture, I didn't do anything extreme, just a regular quiff/pompadour. You can build _much_ more height and volume with this product if you want. The product is also quite okay for flattening the hair as well, on the sides for example, surprisingly good control overall. But, I personally use pomade as a top coat for the whole hairstyle (a little extra shine since the powder is basically completely matte, and to fix the hair strands in place and finally to slick the sides a bit more). Well, 5/5, it's both a fun and good product.1 product in post American Crew: Boost Powder™️ - The post was made 1 monthRating: 5 out of 5

Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce (2002)
The most Y2K-coded fragrance there is, hands down. It smells straight up like an American high school movie from the early 2000s... Think Jonathan Bennett in Mean Girls (2004), that's it! Bennett actually worked at Abercrombie & Fitch before he got the role of "Aaron Samuels" in Mean Girls (2004). The fragrance has strong citrus notes in the top notes, but it also has a relatively strong oriental element in the top with clear cardamom, but the scent of fir needles rounds it off a bit so it feels like a distinctly Western fragrance rather than oriental even though oriental elements are present. The mid notes are a pretty savory and floral blend, but rosemary and sage are noticeable. The base notes are what cements the fragrance as a pretty strongly coded men's fragrance even though it is quite unisex otherwise. It is quite bottom-heavy with very traditional masculine tones of musk, oakmoss, and wood. The base notes are classically masculine a la 70s and 80s men's fragrances. A lot of people used this in the early 2000s and all the way into the early 2010s, even in Sweden, but especially popular in the USA during Y2K. Not exactly an office scent, and very much a summer fragrance or late spring. But I personally use it a little pretty much anytime, zero effs given, one of my favorite fragrances ever. The fragrance has great performance and sillage for being an EdC, but it is an EdC! After 5 hours, there isn't much of the scent left, but bomb the clothes full of it and it will hold, I can promise... Just like they did back in the days!1 product in post Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce (2002)94 views - The post was made 1 monthRating: 4 out of 5verified customer
American Crew: Heavy Hold Pomade
American Crew is a quality brand. American Crew is a quality brand in the sense that they never release a bad product. American Crew doesn't have the absolute best and most recognized products in hair nerd circles, but they have a high baseline. In fact, a completely watertight and solid baseline, and that's what you pay for when you buy a product from American Crew. Basically, you can blind buy all their products regardless of product category, have you never tried a water-based pomade? Try American Crew's. It's not the best, not the most talked about in the nerdy pomade community, and definitely not the cheapest. But if you want to try something new and aren't keen on finding just your favorite among hundreds of different products from hundreds of different brands – try American Crew. It will work! American Crew's Heavy Hold Pomade smells generally fresh. I manage to sense notes of lavender and a light citrus hint at the top, but otherwise, it's hard for me to pinpoint more scent notes, it smells quite generic barber shop clean scent 💈 If you want to match hair product with perfume, why not Jean Paul Gaultier's Le Male (1995). They go well together. But generally, it's not as crucial to match scent for water-based pomades as it is for oil-based pomades (the perfume lasts much longer in oil-based products). And that was about it for the most part, in the picture I'm rocking a pretty typical Elvis hairstyle, in my opinion the best look for this type of product, even though you can go for a more modern wet look. The product does what it should and what it promises, it simply works. But it doesn't get a full score as the price is astronomically high. But, it does what it promises!1 product in post American Crew: Heavy Hold Pomade280 views - The post was made 2 monthsRating: 3 out of 5
Björn Axén: Extra Matt Clay
A good product that I use quite often. Nothing wrong with it, I like it and use it. What brings the rating down is well not really a consequence of the product itself, but rather a consequence of how the product is marketed. ”Extra Matt Clay” and ”Super Strong Hold”. It is not ”Extra Matt”, rather low shine or even medium shine in terms of clays. And there is nothing wrong with that, but it is marketed with big text on the jar as ”Extra Matt”… Big nja! It also does not have ”Super Strong Hold”, that actually borders on pure nonsense. It has medium hold in terms of clays – a product group that fundamentally does not have good hold, but this one does not even have good hold to be a clay. And definitely not ”Super Strong Hold”. So, finally, if the marketing does not match – why should one buy this product then? + Super easy to use, super easy to distribute in the hair. + Good for flattening the sides, at least good for that purpose within the product category clays. + Gives a NICE slightly shiny finish. But, as I said, if you want ”Extra Matt” finish, you do not get that. And if you want ”Super Strong Hold”, you do not get that. Difficult product to review because the product itself is not bad, I like it and it is easy to use, but the classification on the jar is misleading from Björn Axén's side.1 product in post Björn Axén: Extra Matt Clay430 views - The post was made 2 monthsRating: 5 out of 5verified customer
D:Fi Matte Clay
An easily accessible product that always gets the job done. Affordable, gives a really nice texture, and it has very good hold for a clay. That said, D:Fi Matte Clay has great hold within its product category, but generally for clay, if you want your hairstyle to stay intact from morning to night – use hairspray after you finish styling with clay. And this applies to this clay as well. Hairspray with clay is no problem, you will keep the texture intact even after you spray. It does change the finish, but you get a hairstyle that lasts all day. The key to a nice hairstyle with clay: 1. Apply very little product in several rounds, take your time! If the clay starts to clump in the hair, it’s hard to spread out later. 2. Apply the product in the hair with fingers shaped like bird claws 🦅 Don’t flatten the hair on top of the head, but you can flatten the sides with your palm, of course. 3. Feel free to use a hairdryer. I personally use a hairdryer before I apply clay, while I apply clay, and after I’ve applied clay! 4. If the hair is hard to flatten on the sides: use a complementary product. E.g. hairspray as mentioned earlier, or a pomade to tame the sides.1 product in post D:Fi Matte Clay1928 views - The post was made 2 monthsRating: 5 out of 5
Beard Brew Wilderness
Fantastic product. Lovely, green, and woody scent. You can combine this with any green perfume, but I can really recommend Ralph Lauren's green Polo (1978) as a perfume to match the scent profile of the beard oil. They complement each other in a stylish way, match made in heaven! Ralph Lauren's Polo (1978) is a smoky, old school green scent with heavy green base notes. Beard Brew Wilderness is significantly more top-heavy in the scent profile with citrus and flowers. But still a masculine green scent profile. My recommendation is to match the beard oil with a bottom-heavy green perfume, then it really becomes next level how this beard oil marries its wonderful green top notes. But the beard oil stands well on its own too. Green and fresh as it is. 5/5, good shine, good scent. Gets the job done!1 product in post Beard Brew Wilderness
