The ball can become overfilled if the bottle is turned upside down. Heat can also make the liquid thinner, and sometimes a bit of product in the seal can cause leakage.
My best tip to reduce leakage is to store the bottle upright, avoid warm places. Wipe around the ball occasionally and make sure the cap is screwed on properly 👌
