Slide the button to lock and unlock the arms of your machine. Use with the arms locked to gently pre-dry hair and create volume from the roots.
Auto-pause

Dyson’s latest hair care technology uses high-pressure airflow to straighten hair as it dries. Air is precisely heated and projected evenly through the tress as you style – with no need for extreme heat.¹
Airflow to smooth and align
Airflow is projected downwards at a 45° angle to create the tension needed to align hair for a smooth end style – with less damage and breakage.³
Intelligent heat control
Glass bead thermistors, located in the machine arms, regulate airflow temperature up to 16 times per second, to prevent extreme heat damage and protect hair’s natural shine.
Why straighten from wet?
Style reset
When hair is wet, its hydrogen bonds are more pliable and easier to ‘reset’. Using a combination of moisture and airflow, hair can be styled effectively – without extreme heat.¹
The science of shine
Using lower temperature and resetting the hair’s bonds from wet mean its internal structure is protected, so it can reflect more light, for a shiny finish.
More than a plug
The PRCD plug (Portable Residual Current Device) is engineered for your safety when using the Dyson Airstraitâ„¢ straightener.
Dyson engineers designed the plug to include key electronic elements in it. By moving this to the plug, it removed weight and bulk from the machine itself.
Why this appliance needs a PRCD
The straightener’s powerful air drying technology for wet to dry use requires a PRCD plug to test the electrical current for safety. Such plugs are on a variety of electrical appliances, particularly in proximity to water or water vapour.
