La Savonnerie du fer à cheval was founded in 1856 and is the oldest soap factory in Marseille still producing genuine Marseille soap and black soap.

Strong of more than 160 years of existence, Fer à Cheval Savonnerie perpetuates the method of making and saponifying Marseille soap in a cauldron according to the true “Marseillaise” method. It was in the 19th century, in the city of Marseille, that hundreds of small factories made soap, the flagship product of Marseille.

They have kept the soul of an artisan, and patiently produce a soap that is not perfect but very much alive. Its shape and color evolve over time, according to the seasons and the oils we select. But in our eyes, it is still and always the same love story.
