Ah, Greenley from Parfums de Marly – a scent so green, so fresh, and so immediately seductive that you almost feel transported to an idyllic orchard, where leaves rustle softly in the breeze and juicy apples hang heavily from the branches. Let’s start with a praise, for this is a perfume that, at first encounter, truly seduces the senses in an almost magical way. The first impression? A radiant explosion of green apple, almost as if someone has squeezed the juice directly into the air. It’s sharp, but in a refreshing way, like a cool breeze on a warm summer day. The apple tones are followed by a subtle bergamot and mandarin that provide a tangy balance, and before you know it, you feel enveloped in an aura of freshness that can make anyone feel both energetic and relaxed at the same time. And then come the heart notes, where the green theme continues with notes of cedar and cashmere. This gives the fragrance a kind of luxurious depth, but at the same time, it remains light, airy, and almost effortless. Here, Greenley strikes an almost perfect balance between elegance and everyday accessibility. It’s like a shirt made of the finest linen; you can wear it in any situation, but it will always make you feel a little more sophisticated, a little more special. The base is solid, with a subtle touch of oakmoss and amber that adds depth without losing the fresh character. It all feels like a kind of symphony where all the notes play perfectly together, as if the composer himself has been out picking the freshest ingredients on a sunny morning. Greenley manages to be complex, yet incredibly wearable and light – it’s a perfume that doesn’t demand too much, but also never disappoints. But then, when we really start to dive in, we see that Greenley is not without its flaws. Ah, yes, for here the facade begins to crack, and all that tempting green turns out to be as thin as a leaf-thin facade of mediocrity. For when we first reach the depth – or, shall we say, the lack of depth – one quickly notices that this scent is like an apple without the seeds. It starts fresh but ends up as a disappointing, empty shell. After a couple of hours, it almost completely disappears, and the little that remains reminds one of a cheap air freshener – yes, one of those you find hanging in a random taxi. And let’s talk about the price. Paying a premium sum for a scent that, for the most part, evaporates as quickly as a wet towel in the Sahara feels like a robbery in broad daylight. Greenley promises so much, but delivers so little in the long run. It’s like buying a gourmet meal, only to realize it tastes like fast food after the first bite. Parfums de Marly, what have you really done here? A scent that promises forests and apple orchards, but ends up smelling like someone sprayed a little water with lemon scent and called it a day. So, dear Greenley, you are beautiful at first sniff, but alas, the disappointment that follows is almost unbearable. Why be so short-lived? Why let us dream of green apple and forest, only to leave us with a hint of… well, little more than regret and the bitter taste of money that could have been better spent.29 views
