Movicol is a powder that helps you achieve a comfortable bowel function, even if you've been dealing with constipation for a while. Movicol is also effective for severe constipation, known as fecal impaction.

Constipation: One dose of Movicol is 1 sachet. Take this 1-3 times daily depending on the severity of your constipation.

Fecal Impaction: A dose consisting of 8 sachets daily is necessary for treating fecal impaction. The 8 sachets should be taken within 6 hours of each other for up to 3 consecutive days if needed. If you have a heart condition, do not take more than 2 sachets per hour.

Duration of treatment with Movicol:

Constipation: Treatment with Movicol usually lasts about 2 weeks. If you need to use Movicol for longer, consult your doctor. If your constipation is caused by a condition such as Parkinson's disease or multiple sclerosis (MS), or if you're taking medications that cause constipation, your doctor may recommend using Movicol for longer than 2 weeks. Often, during long-term treatment, the dose can be reduced to 1 or 2 sachets daily.

Fecal Impaction: Treatment with Movicol can last up to 3 days.

Administration:
Open the sachet and pour the contents into a glass. Fill with about 125 ml or roughly half a glass of water. Stir until all the powder has dissolved and the liquid is clear or slightly cloudy, then drink. If you're taking Movicol for fecal impaction, it might be easier to dissolve 8 sachets in a liter of water.
