About Clean
HOW CLEAN GIVES BACK
The way that CLEAN creates their products means everything to them. They actively work to have a positive influence on both our planet and the communities where they source their ingredients. To CLEAN, sustainability is more than just a trend, it’s what they work towards every day. They focus on using ingredients that are ethically harvested, without depleting natural resources. They work hard to use eco-conscious packaging for all their products as much as possible. CLEAN considers it an honor to collaborate with small farming communities around the world and offers fair-trade prices, funding for schools and clean drinking water.
THE ECO-CONSCIOUS BOTTLE
When CLEAN creates their eco-conscious products they have two large goals. The first is to reduce the environmental footprint when producing their fragrances and packaging, which is why they only work with carefully selected manufacturing partners. The second is to minimize the amount of waste produced by their packaging. They collaborate with companies that utilize sustainable or biodegradable materials, such as corn or recycled paper, to avoid plastic where possible.
Paper and boxes
All paper and boxes are made from 100% recyclable, FSC-certified and responsibly sourced wood. FSC – Forest Stewardship Council – is an independent organization that protects forests for future generations.
CLEAN’s farming communities
CLEAN’s fragrances wouldn’t be possible without the sustainable ingredients that are ethically harvested by farming families. CLEAN collaborates with organizations that give back to the communities in lasting ways, in addition to supporting their economies. At a minimum they provide fair payment, but often offer renewable farming education, funding for schools and medical dispensaries, or protection for the farmers’ agricultural lands.
CLEAN sources sustainable Vetiver from Haiti, one of the poorest countries in the world. Although Vetiver is a precious ingredient, the farming families in this community live in poverty. CLEAN felt socially responsible for this region and took action. In 2012, they partnered with a company to build a primary school for 300 children. It also launched a mobile medical unit. CLEAN’s continued purchase of Vetiver from this region helps support these education and health care initiatives.
