I have used Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Meltdown Recovery Cream over a period of time and unfortunately have not been completely convinced. I have dry to dehydrated skin and therefore expected the cream to feel comfortable, softening, and provide good moisture to the skin. The texture is rich and creamy, and upon application, it immediately feels quite nourishing. However, I experienced that the product formed a film on top of the skin and did not absorb properly, even after waiting for a while.
For me, this was especially noticeable when I used it during the day or under other skincare products. The skin didn’t necessarily feel dry, but rather a bit “trapped” and sticky on the surface. I prefer a cream that absorbs well and leaves the skin soft and comfortable, rather than one that sits as a layer on top of the skin.
I therefore think the product works fine if you want a rich cream that lays a protective layer on the skin, especially if you like a more occlusive feeling. Personally, however, I don’t think it quite fits my needs, and I have tried other moisturizers that provide a lighter and more pleasant feeling while still delivering good moisture.
