    I bought this color that was supposed to have an orange undertone. To my dismay, I noticed that they all have the same base that pushes through pink. So the orange color turned pink very quickly after application.

This means that your own skin tone shines through and affects how the final result looks. The natural flush of the cheeks, the natural color of the lips, and the warmth of the skin can change or balance the differences between the various shades.
