Gentle styling with minimal effort
My starting point: long, thick hair with a bit of frizz. Dry lengths and oily scalp. About the product: a scrunchie attached to a thicker, foam-filled "sausage" that the hair is wrapped around. The scrunchie part is then used to keep the hair in place overnight. It is made of what seems to be a shiny synthetic material and feels well-made and durable. Result: My main purpose with this product is to keep the hair away from my face and neck overnight, as well as to maintain volume in my hair between washes. I think it delivers well on both these points. Additionally, it feels barely there and therefore does not disturb my sleep. In the morning, the hair looks really newly styled, with soft curls/waves and volume. Anyone wanting to maximize both volume and movement in their hair should use some product for hold; otherwise, some of the volume will fall. I also find that my hair looks extra shiny and well-groomed when all the strands lie in the same direction and frizz is minimized. I am simply very satisfied with this product and use it pretty much every night. When I have twisted up my hair, there is still plenty of room on the roller, so I think it should work for most hair types. Bonus tip: it’s not entirely easy to get the hair in place the first time. Google "heatless curl scrunchie", and you’ll find a plethora of short videos showing how to do it :) [hashtag]Translated from swedish

Glossy Lip Stain Pinkies Up
I rarely use lip products, as I feel like a clown with painted lips and I’m also completely uninterested in keeping up and touching up my lip color all the time. Additionally, my lips tend to be quite dry, and it rarely looks nice under a lipstick. But a while ago, I decided to start getting used to painted lips, and this product felt like a safe first step on that journey. Pinkies Up is one of those natural "my lips but better" shades for me. Right upon application, it enhances my own lip color and adds a touch of shine. The shine fades pretty quickly, but what remains is a nice slightly dusty and cool pink that then fades away after about two hours. Thanks to the shade being so close to my own, there’s no ugly line left in the lip contour as it wears off, which means I don’t have to worry about touching it up during the day. Despite my dryness, the product applies evenly and nicely, and feels pleasant to wear. The only thing I don’t quite agree with is the applicator, which picks up a bit too little product from the tube and therefore forces me to double dip. Overall, this is a nice product, and I think the next step on my lip journey will be a shade with a bit more oomph. #lykoreviewTranslated from swedish

Not my cup of tea
I was super excited to try this mascara after seeing the rave reviews coming in from all directions. And there’s a lot to like, it really does. We start on the outside: pretty, sleek packaging without any frills. Love it! The brush is a classic one with nylon bristles, which I pretty much always prefer over those other plastic spike variants. So far so good. The brush also picks up just the right amount of product and is designed in a way that makes it easy to reach everywhere. As usual with waterproof mascara, it holds the curl of the lashes nicely throughout the day. This mascara delivers on its promises and gives beautifully defined lashes with good blackness and a little extra length. Plus, it stays on all day. What makes me start looking for my next mascara after just two weeks of use are mainly two things: the fibers and the wear. My eyes are usually not particularly sensitive, but several times the tiny fibers have found their way over the waterline and made me feel like I was walking around with gravel in my eyes for a whole workday. Incredibly uncomfortable. The only way for me to avoid irritation in my eye is to avoid applying the mascara too close to the lash line. On the other hand, that creates another irritation, because my natural lashes aren’t long enough for me to afford to leave some of them bare. It kind of takes away the lengthening effect. And then there’s the issue of wear. It was appreciated when I was walking around with irritated and watery eyes for a couple of days, but this mascara actually holds on a bit too well. The lashes feel stiff like pig bristles with the mascara on, and then it takes quite a bit of work with oil-based cleansing to remove it. Unfortunately. This mascara will be out of my makeup bag by tonight. #lykoreviewTranslated from swedish

Pretty Waves
It took a number of attempts before I came to terms with this curling iron, but now it has become a favorite. The iron is big. Like really big. And quite heavy. The little foldable stand (a metal bracket) that it’s supposed to rest on during heating isn’t particularly good at its job. It feels unstable and is also quite tricky to get it to work when you set the iron down in between. I solved it by getting one of those silicone mats that protect the surface instead, so that little concern was out of the world. With its weight, the iron feels solid and well-built. The coating is smooth and shows no signs of wear after a few months of use. The clamp function is easy to operate with the thumb, but at the same time firm enough to hold the hair in place. I also find that it heats up quickly and maintains an even temperature during use. The result then? I of course followed the instructions to the letter, at least the first few times. In the mirror, I saw how I transformed into something of a movie star. Or yeah, I mostly looked like Selma Bouvier, you know, Marge Simpson's one sister. It turned out to be way too much volume in my already thick hair, and the hairstyle grew kind of upward, outward. Not at all the relaxed bohemian look I had imagined. After the iron had a couple of weeks to ponder its sins, I decided to try again. This time something rebellious awoke within me, and I decided to start by curling the hair from the ends up, and simply leave about a decimeter closest to the scalp untouched. Bingo! Now I get exactly the waves I imagined, and it even goes relatively quickly. I’m of course careful with heat protection, work with the hair in sections, finish with some kind of texture spray, and am careful not to touch the hair the first half hour after I’m done. If I follow this procedure, I’m rewarded with fabulous waves on day 1, followed by softer and softer waves in the next 2 days. By day 3, the hair has almost completely relaxed, but still has a bit of movement in it and is just perfect for a half-updo before it’s time to wash. #lykoreviewTranslated from swedish

Fresh scent but weak effect
My own hair is both thick and long, and I don't belong to the target group for this product at all. Still, I've been sneaking a bit from my boyfriend's jar a couple of times. When I curl my hair, I usually put it up on day 2 or 3, and I find that a little styling paste in the ends helps to give some definition without making the hair stiff. For that, this product works okay, but it doesn't hold the shape for very long. Otherwise, it's mainly my boyfriend who has used this. He has thick curly hair and prefers to have a light product that tames the curls a bit. Right now, he is very satisfied with the product, as it gives just the right amount of hold and texture without making the hair feel dirty. Plus, it smells fresh. However, I want to add that he is currently very short-haired, and in a few weeks, this paste will be way too weak to keep the hairstyle in check. If you have very short or thin hair, I can imagine this is a top product. If you have thicker or somewhat longer hair, you should probably look for something with a bit more power.Translated from swedish

Easy to use and long-lasting
When it comes to eyebrows, I’m quite Spartan. I want color, and not much more than that. I don’t need any gel or wax to tame the brows, I just need color. And for that purpose, a pencil of this model, with a tip on one end and a "mascara brush" on the other, works perfectly. The packaging is plastic, with the product name clearly printed in the middle. At one end is a small plastic cap that protects the brush and the tip. The plastic caps fit securely, without falling off and rattling around in the makeup bag. The only thing I would wish for from the packaging is a small marking that shows whether it’s the tip or the brush that is hiding at that end of the product, but I guess you can’t have everything in the world. Anyone who has previously used, for example, Brow Definer from Anastasia Beverly Hills will recognize the triangular shape of the pencil/tip. I think it continues to hold its shape really well while I use it, without rounding off too much. I’ve never really managed to draw "hairs" no matter which pencil I’ve used, but I also don’t feel any need to add hairs to my brows. My goal with brown shadow is rather to add a little color to the hairs I already have. For that, this pencil works excellently. The pencil is easy to use, and my brows stay where I left them, all the way until I cleanse my face in the evening. I’ve used the shade Ash Brown, and find it quite neutral, with a tendency towards the cooler side. However, it is well-pigmented and quite dark, so next time I will aim for a slightly lighter tone that matches my own dark blonde hair color better. #lykoreviewTranslated from swedish

An honest hairspray
My hair is long, thick, dry, and treated. I always blow dry it and like to style with some type of heat tool. This spray is just wonderfully uncomplicated. It does what it’s supposed to do, it keeps the hairstyle in place (whether it’s straightened or curled), it leaves no plastic film, and it’s easy to comb out. If it has any caring properties, they are not caring enough for me, but that’s not a priority when I choose hairspray. I have other products for care and fluff. The bottle is pretty, the scent is pleasant, and the result is what I expect. A nice product, plain and simple.Translated from swedish

Naaa...
I have long, thick, treated, dry, and wavy hair. Due to the length, it can sometimes look quite heavy and tired, so I thought this spray would liven it up a bit. I have used it on both unstyled and styled hair, and I found that it was on styled hair that this spray performed best, albeit not particularly impressively. When my hair is freshly washed, it needs a little help to hold waves, otherwise it hangs out as soon as it cools down. My favorite tool at the moment is a waver, so after each section, I finished with a round of texture spray. It gave a little life and movement to the waves and helped them hold their shape for a few days. However, the nourishing effect shines with its absence, and my poor ends were crispier than ever (before anyone reports me to the hair care board, I want to inform that I already have a haircut appointment next week when my hairdresser is back from her leave). Back to the spray then. The bottle is quite pretty, the spray nozzle gives a nice mist, and sure, it gives the hair a bit of hold. But the scent is a bit plastic-y, and I don't notice any nourishing properties. This was not a product for me.Translated from swedish

Beginner-Friendly Self-Tanner Mousse
My starting point: I have very light skin. Very light. Basically snow white. Until about ten years ago, it was nearly impossible to find a foundation that was light enough. Additionally, I have dry skin. And extremely limited experience with self-tanners. My last attempt was about 10 years ago, when I had to stop halfway through the application because my legs turned completely green. It was long pants for a week before I managed to scrub off the outermost layer of skin. You hear me, I might be the best (or absolutely worst) test subject for this self-tanner product. About the product: this product is marketed as easy to use and fragrance-free. Additionally, it should provide a natural result in 3 hours and be moisturizing for 72 hours. Packaging, consistency, scent: The product, which is a mousse, comes in a white bottle with a nice bronzy cap. The consistency is firm enough not to run, and loose enough to be easy to spread over the skin. The mousse is fragrance-free upon application, but after a few hours, I can smell that classic self-tanner scent on my skin - albeit very faintly. The mousse is white when it comes out of the bottle and completely invisible after application. Here’s what I did: I made sure to moisturize thoroughly beforehand to increase the chances of getting an even fake tan. Then I put on a latex glove, sprayed a dollop in my palm, and applied it to one body part at a time. My partner assisted when it was time for my back. After that, I let my skin air dry for a few minutes before getting dressed. The whole process was quite quick. I tried, of course, to cover my whole body, but it wasn’t entirely easy to know, as the product absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave a trace behind. Result: Yes, my skin had taken on a nice golden tone after three hours. I was pleasantly surprised both by how natural it looked (not a bit orange!) and how even the result was. There were no stains on either clothes or bed linens. After the first shower, the color had faded, but was still very even. Then it took about a week before it was completely gone. I am very satisfied with this product. It feels beginner-friendly as it is both easy to apply and gives a very suitable dose of color for those of us who don’t have much of our own pigment. Additionally, it also seems quite economical. The only thing I missed was that moisture that was supposed to last 48 hours, but I am actually willing to compromise on that!Translated from swedish

Sweet skincare buddy
It has now been exactly a month since I started using the Clinical Repair Overnight Recovery Cream & Mask, so I feel ready to leave a review. My starting point: I am 40 years old and have some fine lines around my eyes and on my forehead. My skin is very dry, so some of the lines are more due to lack of moisture than age. However, in recent years, I have noticed that my skin has started to lose some of its fullness and elasticity. Packaging, consistency, scent: The product comes in a dark purple glass jar that looks and feels luxurious. The cream is quite thick in consistency and completely fragrance-free. Unfortunately, no spatula is included, but on the other hand, I have several from before. How I use it: The cream can be used as a night cream or a "thicker layer as a leave-on mask as needed". To be honest, I’m not entirely sure about the difference between the methods of use, but I assume it’s the amount of product that determines whether it’s a mask or a night cream. I can’t stand the thought of a thick layer of cream sticking to the pillow, so I have used it as a night cream every night during the testing period. However, I have been quite generous with the application and applied it both to my face and neck. Feel on the skin: The cream feels pleasant on the skin and absorbs quickly without leaving any sticky residue. Immediate results: Already after the first night, my skin feels hydrated, but also very smooth. I guess we can thank glycerin for the moisturizing properties, while the silicone gives the feeling of silky smooth skin (if only temporarily). Long-term results: I won’t go through every single ingredient here, but it seems that they work quite well together over the 30 days (nights) we have had together. The fine lines may have decreased a bit, but it took longer than two weeks before I saw any change at all. However, I feel that my skin feels smoother and firmer, especially on my neck I see that it has tightened up a bit. My skin has also felt just right hydrated in the morning, without any stickiness at all. Most mornings, I have been able to go straight to my skincare without having to wash my face first. I will continue to use the Smart Clinical Repair Overnight Recovery Cream & Mask, but alternate between it and my other products. I also think I will use it a bit more as a mask a few times a week (but then during the day, to spare the pillow). This is a product that I believe can suit most people, as it feels gentle on the skin while containing a whole bunch of ingredients that support and strengthen the barrier. If you often use acids, I even think that your skin will let out a sigh of relief when you apply this cream a couple of times a week. The price is quite steep, but for me, it feels like a safe purchase, thanks to its caring properties. And now I have become terribly curious about the "Lifting Face + Neck Cream" in the same series 🤭Translated from swedish
