With my sensitive scalp, unscented styling products are a must, but in some cases this requirement comes at the expense of quality. Not so here. Hickap The Wonder Base Stick – 2C Champagne ✨ I really had high expectations for this, especially since I love many of Hickap’s other products ❣️ The stick has a super creamy and soft texture and is very easy to apply. However, I unfortunately found it surprisingly difficult to blend out and the base settled incredibly cakey on the skin. I have combination, acne-prone skin with a slightly oilier T-zone and unevenness from acne scars, but even with primer, powder, and setting spray I couldn’t get an even result… It also settled easily into lines and highlighted unevenness rather than smoothing the skin 💔 It feels extra disappointing because I was really looking forward to it and like Hickap’s other products so much. Unfortunately, this one did not live up to my expectations at all based on the description. Exciting multi-styler, but I'm not completely sold
I was lucky enough to get to test the By Lyko Core Styler 5-in-1 Air Tool, and I have now tried out the different functions. It's a smart idea to combine a hairdryer, round brush, straightening brush, and auto-wrap curling function in one tool, and it's super easy to switch between the different heads 🙌🏼 The hairdryer function works really well and is easy to use. The straightening brush is also easy to use. It made my hair smoother and more gathered, but it didn’t straighten my hair completely like my regular flat iron does. I also have a lot of hair, so hair type and amount might play a role. The auto-wrap curling part wasn’t so easy for me 😅 It comes with two 30 mm auto-wrap cylinders, one for each direction. They are designed so that the airflow pulls the hair in and wraps it around the cylinder. However, I didn’t experience my hair consistently being sucked in by itself. I had to help guide the hair to the cylinder and find the right angle and size of the strands before the airflow really took hold. Once the hair was wrapped around the cylinder, I could see the idea. The result was soft, elegant curls/waves rather than very tight curls. But it was hard for me to fully get the technique 😅 I actually think my hair looked really nice after styling. The curls were soft and bouncy, and I got a more polished look. 👍 What I like * Many functions combined in one tool * Three heat and three speed settings * Cool air function * The two auto-wrap cylinders allow curls in both directions * Creates beautiful, soft, and natural waves * Less need for multiple styling tools * Feels like an interesting alternative to more expensive air stylers 👎 What I think could be better * I miss a more detailed guide, especially for the auto-wrap function. * If you’ve never used an air styler before, it’s not entirely intuitive how to hold the hair and styler to get the airflow to catch the hair. * The straightening brush didn’t give my hair the completely smooth result I usually get with a flat iron. * The auto-wrap function required more technique and practice than I expected. * I don’t think it fully replaces my existing styling tools. My conclusion I think it’s an exciting and versatile styler, but I’m not completely converted to air stylers yet. 😅 It can definitely create a nice result, and especially the soft curls/waves turned out really well. This moisturized my lips and created a beautiful, shiny finish, but on my own lips the shade hardly shows at all, which was a bit of a shame. The staying power is also quite weak, and it leaves a slightly sticky feeling on the lips. A “barrier cream” automatically makes me think of something dense, rich, and thick, a bit like butter, which isn’t always the most pleasant for my sensitive skin. But here, total surprise! 🙏🏼 The consistency is really light for a cream of this type, it spreads quickly and above all doesn’t leave a greasy, heavy layer on the skin. But the biggest WOW for me was that the cream is fragrance-free 💛 And that is a huge plus for me! Especially since my previous experience with Smuuti cream was completely different. I once had the Watermelon gel version, which was very heavily perfumed. The scent was absolutely beautiful – if it was only about the scent, I would have been in love 😂 Unfortunately, for my sensitive skin, it turned out not to be the best choice and the cream eventually went to a friend. Works well and easy to use
I've tested this device a few times now and it really does its job well! The brush makes it easy to add volume and shine to the hair without completely frizzing it. My hair is quite thin, but I have a lot of it, and it can also be quite glassy, so I like getting volume in my hair. The device apparently has infrared technology that helps heat the hair gently from the inside, which prevents the hair from drying out too much and frizzing during styling. I think this also shows in my own hair. Blush-highlighter?
I love this product, but I’m taking off one star because it’s so easy to crumble. Unfortunately, it’s a baked product (or at least that’s what it says), and my copy broke. The product has its pros and cons, and it all depends on your needs and expectations. I was hoping for a blush, but it’s more of a blush-highlighter. And that’s actually how I use it, because as a classic blush it doesn’t really work well for me. There are also some small reservations here. A definite plus is the ability to build up the intensity of the glow. You can get a very delicate glow, but you can also go all out and shine like a superstar. ✨ The biggest plus, however, is the price — it’s wonderfully cheap! 😍 For such an effect, it’s really hard to complain. After it broke, I transferred the product to another container and of course I’ll keep using it because it’s a shame to throw it away. I have tried MAC’s lip tint in the color Sneaky Pink, and here are my thoughts! Application & result: I applied the product directly on my lips and let it sit for about 5 minutes to really let the color set. Then I wiped off the top layer, and what remained on my lips was a nice and even tint – exactly the result I was after. The color: Sneaky Pink is a very strong and bright pink at first application, but when I wiped off the product, the color became much more muted. What remained was a nice, subdued pink tone that feels much more wearable. If you want a bit more shine, it’s of course great to apply a gloss on top. 💕✨ Formula & applicator: The applicator was probably the part I liked the least. I found it a bit flat, and the consistency of the lip product itself felt quite gel-like. Of course, it’s a matter of taste – some might love that type of formula – but personally, it wasn’t really my favorite. Could be among the worst I've tried
Unfortunately, this was not a hit with me at all. For this price, you might as well throw the money into the sea. The formula crumbles and has no pigment. It is hard to work with and hard to build up. The colors are also not the nicest and the story is quite boring. That 3/5 of the shadows have glitter in them was also not fun since the lighter ones barely had any pigment.
