The purple "egg" may look more like something meant to create physical pleasure, but it’s not for that 😅 It gives me mental pleasure; it helps me clean my makeup brushes 😍
Today turned into a bit of a cleaning day among the hair products in the bathroom, and now I’ve continued into the closet/makeup room and tackled the brushes. I probably didn’t buy the "egg" at LYKO, but if it’s not available here, it SHOULD be 🤗
I dab a damp brush in a bit of shampoo (regular hair shampoo) or, if it’s been used with cream products, in a bit of dish soap, and then I circle the brush on the ridges. First without water and then under running water.. It makes the brushes cleaner than against the palm, and I don’t have to stand with one hand in the water for a longer time. The thicker brushes you have to squeeze as well; a lot gets stuck in the middle of them.
Then the brushes dry against a bit of paper towel. I always lay the brushes down slightly so that no more moisture runs down into the glue for the bristles than necessary. I always squeeze them out before they dry, so I don’t know how much difference the angle makes, but "better be safe than sorry" and so on 😄 You can spray a bit of conditioner spray or shine spray on the brushes to make them softer later, but I usually don’t do that. Feels like it should hold onto more dirt, but what do I know 🤷♀️
Speaking of dirt, I cleaned the brush for my Dyson airwrap 😅 OMG 🤦♀️ I use it almost every time I shower, and when I got it wet, I saw how much product residue was around the strands! It had to sit in warm water for a while, and then I cleaned it with a mixture of detergent, vinegar, and water. Easier said than done, I can say! Too tight to get down with a toothbrush, but I found an old "sling picker" and sacrificed the brush to clean it, it worked out okay!
Now I was going to tackle the makeup, but apparently, I’m going out in the city! Good thing I saved two brushes so I have something to do my makeup with 🤭
