    Awesome Toning

I refresh my hair color with this toning about every 6 weeks and think it's awesome! Marmalade is an incredibly beautiful auburn color on me that over time gets lighter and becomes a naturally "red" color. I always apply first at the roots and then in the lengths and have never had a problem getting it even. Really super good!

    3.0 coffee bean

Reliable hair color. Dark enough brown that isn’t black. Lasts long in a cool shade.

Instead of toning at the hairdresser!

It has now been 6 weeks since I put a bottle of Portobello 7.0 in my hair, and in the video you can see before and after as well as how it has gradually washed out. NOTE! Please read the entire review as I also did a color bomb beforehand to achieve this result! I got the tip from someone in the Lyko store to put in a warm color bomb beforehand, to avoid the risk of the hair turning green. Said and done, I had an orange color bomb that I washed out and then a bottle of Portobello in damp hair. I bought two packs, but managed to get by with just one, so it felt unnecessary to open the other. I wanted to tone my hair to make the regrowth blend in better, as I want to get a bit closer to my natural hair. The result turned out a bit warmer than I had thought, probably because my color bomb gave quite a bit of warm pigments! So I have actually used silver shampoo on 3 occasions to get back some cooler tones. 👍 • I think it’s very easy to apply! • Doesn’t smell strong at all. • Makes the hair both softer and shinier! • Intense color at first, but it continues to look nice as it gradually washes out with each wash. 👎 • I wash my hair every other to every third day, and I wish the color lasted longer. But I have used both a bit of silver shampoo and deep cleansing shampoo sometimes, so that has probably affected it. I like these toners. They last longer than a color bomb. I’m just not entirely sure that this one was the right shade for me, next time I’ll probably mix this with a cooler toner. #lykoreview

Hey Emelie 👋 Thanks for your review ❤️ This intensive dye is made to fade gradually, so here are some tips to make it last longer next time: follow the processing time closely, wait 48–72 hours before the first wash, and use color-protecting shampoo 🥰

    Duration?

Hi, how long does the color effect of this toner last? And can you use brunette toner on bleached blonde hair, and will it wash out completely over time or will it damage the blonde pigments?

Hey there! The color effect of Four Reasons Take Away Color 3.0 Coffee Bean usually lasts for 6-8 washes, but it can vary a bit depending on the hair's porosity and the products you use. When it comes to using brunette tones on bleached blonde hair, it might be wise to pre-pigment first for a more predictable result. Dark pigments can adhere more easily to porous hair, so it can be harder to wash out. If you just want to tone down yellow, a lighter beige or gold shade might be a better choice. Hope this helps! 😊

    Recommended 😍✨

I really like this a lot. The shade becomes so soft and pretty in some way. I have a few different highlights in slightly similar colors in my hair, and it suits all three colors in my hair 😍💆🏼‍♀️ The different colors that are in my hair match with this right now. The gray in my hair gets a nice color I can't describe. The almost platinum white got a nice shade of gray but still not gray. Very nice shade that I love 😍 The orange in my hair tones down, and I like to tone down with this until I know what to do with my hair 💆🏼‍♀️ But then I have a problem. It washes out of my hair after about 3 washes. Then my hair looks dull again. I don't use anything that could interfere with the products. However, I'm wondering if the flat iron could be damaging and the heat might make it more orange. I use heat spray beforehand. Maybe I'm just imagining it.

    Too dark

Bought portobello that was way too dark and turned green. It said it was supposed to be dark blonde, it's dark brown I can say. So disappointed and all my highlights are gone now thanks to it. How long does it take until it washes out?😫

Hey!!! I'm thinking about buying this. May I ask what your starting condition was before the dyeing, since you mentioned it turned green?

    Smells like cigarette butts

This is the first time I'm using hair dye from this brand, and I chose it because I'm fragrance-sensitive and the color is supposed to be fragrance-free. What I didn't count on was that instead of a fragrance, it would smell so uncomfortably strong of something that reminds me of cigarette butts or ash that I could only stand it for 5 minutes! Ironically, the color also reminded me of ash. Despite only 5 minutes, I did manage to remove some of the yellow in my hair, but my gray roots didn't get addressed at all, so I still need to do something about that. Any suggestions? 🙏😊

Hey Emily! 🤗 Thank you for sharing, I really understand that this was a disappointment, especially when you chose the product specifically for it to be fragrance-free. What you experienced with the scent is unfortunately something that can occur in fragrance-free colors and tones. Instead of fragrance, the raw materials themselves, often alkalizing substances, can give off quite a strong scent 🙈 If you want to try something that is milder in scent, I would highly recommend Montibello Denuee. It is also without added fragrance, I don’t find that it has any other strange scent 🌿 Apply this shade at the roots and it will create a nice transition to your lengths, 👉🏼 lyko.com/sv/montibello/montibello-denuee-10 Have a great day 💫

    Caffé machiato

Looks much lighter on the website, bought to get a cooler shade on my brown hair with some blonde highlights in it. The whole hair turned dark brown and still has a warm tone, unfortunately not at all what I expected :( hope they disappear from the hair quickly.

Same thing! Way too dark result, koka dyed my hair. I've had the dye for 3 months now and the color has only faded a little despite frequent washing.

    Color Removal

How long does this last? I dyed my blonde hair with tosted honey over 1 month ago. The color is still looking great. But it turned out too dark and I would have preferred marmalade instead. Can I dye over it or should I do a color removal first?

Hey Sabine 😊👋 A toner lasts about 4-8 weeks 🤍 How long it lasts depends a bit on hair quality, how often you wash your hair, and what products you use 😊 Since your current shade still looks nice but is perceived as too dark, it might be difficult to achieve a lighter result just by coloring over. Color cannot lighten already colored hair 🤍 An alternative is to wash with a clarifying shampoo a few times and see if the shade lightens a bit before you decide on bleaching! This shampoo is amazing: lyko.com/sv/malibu-c/malibu-c-un-do-gooshampoo-266ml Take care and good luck!
