A light gel tint for summer, but…
I had the pleasure of testing two products from MILK Makeup – Hydro Grip Primer and Hydro Grip Gel Tint. Here is my honest review after using both products for an extended period. The Hydro Grip Gel Tint has a super light and pleasant consistency that feels fresh on the skin – perfect for you if you usually don’t like foundation. 🪼It is fragrance-free and provides a light coverage that can be built up as needed. I usually don’t use foundation because I find it quickly feels heavy and clogging, but this gel tint is a really good alternative – especially here in the summer period.🌞 Unfortunately, I have experienced some challenges. It tends to oxidize, which means the color changes and takes on a more yellow/orange tone on the skin after a while. 😏 Additionally, it also easily peels off if not applied correctly – just like with the primer, it’s important to dab the product into the skin and not rub.🫠 Pros: * ✅Light and fresh consistency * ✅Fragrance-free * ✅Light to medium coverage – and can be built up * ✅Perfect for you if you’re not into heavy foundations – especially in the summer heat Cons: * 🛑Peels off easily from the skin with incorrect application * 🛑Oxidizes quite a bit – takes on a slightly yellow/orange tone after some time ☝️Tips for use: Just like with the primer: Dab the product into the skin – don’t rub! You might want to choose a lighter shade, as it gets a bit darker after you’ve had it on for a while. The consistency is light, almost like a gel-based serum, and feels instantly moisturizing on the skin. Application goes smoothly, whether you use your fingers, a sponge, or a brush. It blends nicely without leaving sharp edges, making it perfect for a "no-makeup" look.🌟 It gives a glowy, fresh finish that looks healthy and natural. If you like dewy skin, this is a product for you. It provides more moisture than a regular tint, which is great for dry or dehydrated skin. 💦 The downside is that it can feel a bit sticky for a while after application, especially if you have oilier skin. It takes a little time to set properly, so if you want to avoid a sticky feeling, it might be wise to set it with a light powder. The colors are nice and natural, but the selection could be broader. The pigmentation is light to medium, which means it gives a subtle color without becoming too intense. It can be built up a bit, but if you prefer something that covers well, this could be a limitation. This is a gel-based tint and not a standard foundation. The product surprisingly holds up well throughout the day, especially for a gel-based tint. The picture where I’m wearing a brown sweater is after 8 hours of work. Just a little shiny, otherwise totally fine! I set my makeup with setting powder and setting spray. It’s especially suitable for those with normal to dry skin who want a fresh, hydrated look.
