Silky Soft Hair
I have been testing this hair mask for a few weeks now and here is my verdict ☺️ This is a mask that is supposed to provide moisture, enhance shine, and fight frizz. It is supposed to smell like flowers, fresh apple, and warm vanilla. I don’t notice much of the vanilla scent, but it smells mild and fresh, and maybe there’s a hint of apple 🍏 The first thing I notice about this mask is the texture. It’s a bit like a mix between gel and whipped cream! Very nice and fun texture 😍 I have very typical Nordic hair, with thin strands and a hair type that easily gets weighed down by products. So when I use masks, I shampoo first, towel dry my hair, apply the treatment (this one should work for 5 minutes), rinse it out, shampoo again with a milder shampoo, and finish with conditioner. That’s the method that works best for my hair without heavy hair products weighing it down. And I have to say – I love this mask! Glossy Hair
I got to test this conditioner with my honest opinion. This is a conditioner that is supposed to preserve hair color intensity, add moisture, and give silky soft and glossy hair. This conditioner has a medium thick consistency, somewhat like a mix between gel and mousse. It smells very fresh and nice, and I didn’t need a large amount to cover my shoulder-length hair. It definitely makes the hair very soft and glossy, but for my thin hair, it’s too heavy. It forms a kind of coating on the hair strands and weighs my hair down quite a bit. But I have used it as a pre-shampoo treatment, and for that it works great! I just wet my hair, apply the conditioner, and let it sit until I wash my hair. Hair doesn't get clean
I have very thin hair that easily gets weighed down by products, so I was excited to try this shine-enhancing shampoo. I haven't had much success with shine and moisture shampoos before, as they tend to be too heavy for my hair and it ends up getting greasy very quickly. I prefer volumizing shampoos. This shampoo can give shine, smooth the hair surface, and reduce frizz. It smells fresh and nice, similar to the conditioner in the same series. I always shampoo twice, and I did so with this one as well. But I noticed already in the shower that this didn’t make my hair feel clean. And when the hair was dry, it felt heavy and not clean. Completely okay
I have tested this product and here is my honest opinion. This spray is supposed to prepare the hair for styling, enhance shine, combat frizz, and protect against heat up to 230 degrees. The first time I tested it, I used it as the only leave-in in my hair, and it didn’t work particularly well. It didn’t provide much care on its own, and my hair felt a bit dry and static. I got more out of it by applying a nourishing leave-in first and then using this more as a heat protectant spray before using heat tools. It definitely adds shine to the hair, but for my hair, I felt it became overly smooth and my curls fell out faster than usual. Unfortunately, I don’t think it helped with frizz, rather the opposite. But that might be an issue with my hair. When products have a lot of alcohol denat, hair tends to get very frizzy. This is not a must in my routine, as I have other heat protectant products I prefer. Heart Heat
I have tested the By Lyko Cheek On Fleek Blush in the shade “Heart Heat.” I previously said that the bronzer from By Lyko was a bit too powdery for my taste and was a little worried the blush would be the same. I see some others say it is, but I really don’t experience this one as powdery/dusty. I think it blends beautifully into the skin, but it is very pigmented, so you should apply a little at a time. I find it best to dip the brush into the blush and then tap off a bit on my hand before applying it to the face, it becomes beautiful that way 😍 I also love this color! Golden Days
I got to test the By Lyko Tan Fan Bronzer in the shade “Golden Days.” This is a matte bronzer without talc that is supposed to melt into the skin. Unfortunately, this was not a favorite for me. I probably didn’t choose the right shade for me, as this one was too light and leans very much towards orange. This powder is unfortunately not as creamy and silky as it claims to be. I wonder if it’s the shade I chose that is like this, or if this applies to all the shades? It’s very powdery and dusts a lot when I dip the brush into it, and when I tap off the excess, almost all the product disappears from the brush. I managed to make it work a bit better by dipping the brush into the powder and blending it in my hand before applying it to my face. But since the bronzer was a bit too light for me, it didn’t show up well on the skin. Tapered Powder Brush
I have now tested the By Lyko Tapered Powder Brush for a little while and have completely fallen in love 😍 Often I find that affordable makeup brushes feel very cheap with plastic handles and the hairs come loose very easily after a short time. That is not the case with this one! It has a heavier handle which makes it feel very luxurious and the brush hairs are incredibly soft, making the brush incredibly comfortable to use 🥰 It hasn’t shed a single hair since I started using it. I have tested it with setting powder, bronzer, and blush and it works just as well for all powder products. Curl Soufflé
After I learned that I have wavy to curly hair, I have really tried to highlight this in the best possible way. I have now tested quite a few curl creams, gels, and mousses, but still haven't found my favorite. I was therefore very excited about this one. It is a vegan mousse that is supposed to enhance curls and give more volume, add shine, and protect against frizz, moisture, and heat up to 230 degrees. My first impression was that this sprays out the mousse very poorly. A bit like a cream jar that is about to run out. But I managed to get out a golf ball-sized amount and applied it to the lengths and roots. I scrunched my hair a bit to enhance waves, but not too much as I don't want too many curls. Then I let it air dry. This mousse gives volume! I very rarely have much luck with mousse for my hair, as they usually give too much volume and just create a fluffy and frizzy mess. Unfortunately, that also happened with this one. It enhanced some waves, but it was too frizzy for my taste. I also didn't like the feeling of this in the lengths of my hair. It felt a bit like saltwater spray, so a bit tired. I tried applying this to the roots before blow-drying instead, and it gave nice volume at the roots and some hold. Super Shield
I had basically given up on heat protectant sprays that you can use on dry hair, as I always found that they either made the hair too wet or were terribly sticky. That was until I tried this one! ❤️ I sprayed this on freshly washed dry hair before using heat tools, mostly a curling iron. It sprays a smooth and fine mist and doesn’t make the hair wet or sticky! The only thing I noticed was to be careful not to spray too much, as the hair can get a bit heavy. This really makes my hair silky soft and shiny. Unfortunately, it didn’t give any hold to my curls when using the curling iron, but when using a straightener, I experienced more shine and longer hold. If I have to say something negative, it’s that the scent of this reminds me a bit of Elnette hairspray, and I’m not especially fond of that. But I don’t find that the scent lingers throughout the day.
