Nicotinell patches are your go-to ally for quitting smoking or cutting down, tackling five major withdrawal symptoms: cravings, frustration, irritation, anxiety, and restlessness.
Slap on a Nicotinell nicotine patch and it'll help fend off those intense morning cravings, making your journey to quitting a tad easier. The nicotine is released slowly and absorbed through your skin, ensuring the patch has got your back for a full 24 hours.
Nicotinell patches keep cravings in check round the clock
Choose from three strengths
A discreet solution to manage your cravings
Works great with Nicotinell 2 mg gum and 1 mg lozenges for extra support
The Nicotinell lineup includes patches, medicinal gum, and lozenges, all designed to help you quit smoking or cut down, with nicotine as the active ingredient. Always read the leaflet carefully before use.
Picking the right strength:
If you're lighting up more than 20 cigarettes a day, kick off with the Nicotinell patch 21 mg/24 hours.
Smoking less than 20 a day? The Nicotinell patch 14 mg/24 hours is your starting line.
And for the final stretch of your quitting journey, switch to the Nicotinell patch 7 mg/24 hours.
How to apply the patch:
1. Cut open the package at the marked line and pull out the patch.
2. Peel away the narrow part of the aluminum foil.
3. Then remove the rest of the foil. Try not to touch the sticky side.
4. Apply the patch to a clean, dry, hairless, and unblemished patch of skin.
5. Firmly press down on the patch with your hand for 10-20 seconds, ensuring it's fully adhered by running your finger along the edge.
6. Wash your hands afterward.
7. Swap out the patch every 24 hours, avoiding the same spot twice in a row. Give it a week before reusing the same skin area.
Typically, sticking with the treatment for more than 3 months isn't advised.
Combination therapy - For extra quitting support
Begin with a 21 mg/24 hours Nicotinell patch in tandem with 2 mg gum*/1 mg Mint lozenge. Aim for at least 4 and no more than 24 pieces of 2 mg gum/15 pieces of 1 mg lozenge daily. Usually, 5-6 gums/lozenges per day does the trick. Treatment generally lasts between 6-12 weeks before you start to gradually cut down the nicotine dose.
You can taper off in two ways: either step down to lower strength patches, i.e., 14 mg/24 hours for 3-6 weeks followed by 7 mg/24 hours for another 3-6 weeks, alongside the initial dose of 2 mg gum/1 mg lozenge. Then, gradually decrease the amount of 2 mg gum/1 mg lozenge over up to 12 months/9 months.
Or, you can phase out the patches and slowly reduce the 2 mg gum/1 mg lozenge intake over the same period.
(*available only in Fruit, Mint, and Licorice flavors for Nicotinell 2 mg gum)
