I find that it adheres better. It refreshes and gives a nice shine and tone to the hair. I also think it has a pleasant scent and is easy to apply. Since bleached hair often lacks some of the warm underlying pigments, a brown toner can otherwise give a dull or greenish result, especially on the lightest and most porous lengths. Wella Professionals Color Fresh 6/34 Dark Blonde Gold Red contains both golden and red pigments and can therefore be relevant as a step to reintroduce warmth before applying a brown shade. However, it is not certain that this particular shade is optimal for your hair color or that it alone provides the right base for chestnut brown. I would recommend doing a strand test before treating the entire hair, as the bleached lengths can absorb pigment significantly more than your darker roots. Also keep in mind that Color Fresh is a pigmenting toner, so follow the productβs instructions for application and processing time. To get an even chestnut brown result, it is important to choose both pre-pigmentation and brown toner based on how light the lengths are and how dark you want the final result to beπ©·

If you want a result similar to Espresso but with longer durability, I would instead look at an intensive toner. Use:
Apply Wella Color Fresh carefully throughout the hair. Easiest in the shower when you shampoo your hair with Color Fresh which works as a toning shampoo. Massage a lather with Wella Color Fresh and let it work. For increased intensity and durability, let Wella Color Fresh work for 20 minutes.
