Vectavir cream is an over-the-counter treatment designed to tackle cold sores (herpes labialis) caused by the Herpes simplex virus. The cream should be applied as soon as possible after the first signs appear, like that tingling sensation on your lip or when bumps/blisters start to form—definitely not when the scab has already set in.

Vectavir works by inhibiting the Herpes simplex virus's ability to multiply. It can shorten healing time, pain, and the presence of the virus by up to a day.

For adults and kids over 12 years old.

Usage:
Start your Vectavir treatment as soon as you notice the first signs of infection, such as itching and tingling. Some people might not catch these early symptoms, but don’t worry—Vectavir cream is effective even if you apply it after bumps/blisters have started to show.

Make sure to wash your hands before and after applying Vectavir.

Squeeze a bit of Vectavir onto your fingertip. If you have the single-use applicator packs, feel free to use the applicator instead of your finger.

Apply Vectavir every two hours during the day for 4 days.

If your treatment time coincides with mealtime, be sure to apply Vectavir after you’ve eaten.

It might take a little while for Vectavir to kick in. Keep using it even if the sore doesn’t feel better right away. Stick with Vectavir for 4 days unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Vectavir cream should not be used for children under 12 years old.
