Magical essence that perfectly prepares the skin – wow what a difference!
A little brief info about me & my skin: I am 31 years old with what is commonly referred to as “fine combination skin.” This means I have small pores and skin that is quite even, but I also have some blackheads, a shiny nose and chin, the occasional pimple, and also signs of surface dryness – especially when the weather changes. The skin is mostly normal on the cheeks, but can feel tight sometimes after cleansing. I have also started to notice some small superficial lines, especially on my forehead. Essences have never been a given part of my routine before, but now I really understand why it has become so popular – this step has made a big difference in how the skin receives the rest of my skincare. Consistency & scent: The Multi-Active Delivery Essence has an incredibly light and silky consistency. It’s almost like a thin gel/water hybrid – featherlight and very pleasant to pat into the skin. I pour a few drops into my palm and press it into my face right after cleansing, before serum. It absorbs quickly but leaves a discreet hydrated feeling, without becoming sticky or greasy. The scent is very mild and neutral, with a slight “skincare” tone – nothing that disturbs or irritates, so it feels great even for those of us who are sensitive to scents. Packaging: The essence comes in a sturdy, frosted glass bottle – simple but luxurious in its design. It lacks a pump, so I carefully pour it directly into my hand. It feels like a product that lasts a long time, as only a few drops are needed for the entire face. Here’s how I use it: I have used it every day, morning and evening, as the first step after cleansing – before the other two products I have tested from The Ordinary (Multi-Peptide + HA Serum and GF Solution 15%). It acts as a preparatory layer that helps the rest of the skincare absorb better, and I have really noticed a difference! Experience & results: Already after the first application, the skin felt less tight and more “plump.” It provides immediate hydration that feels natural, not greasy – and the skin gets a beautiful glow without shining unnecessarily much. What I really appreciate is that it strengthens the skin barrier without feeling heavy. After a few days, I noticed that the skin was less reactive after cleansing (I usually easily get a red nose/cheeks right after showering) and that the dry feeling decreased significantly. It felt like the skin became better at receiving serum and cream – and according to information from The Ordinary, it actually helps with just that, by increasing the absorption of subsequent products. So cool! I have also tested it together with other active ingredients (including Niacinamide, Prebiotics, Retinol, etc.) and experienced no reactions – just even more effect. The skin felt clearer and more balanced, which I truly believe is thanks to how it helps deliver active ingredients deeper. What it does for my skin type: As someone with combination skin, it’s always a challenge to find products that hydrate without clogging. This essence manages to balance that act – it hydrates my dry areas while the skin feels more controlled in the shiny zones. It works quietly but gives noticeable results: smoother, softer, calmer skin that stays nice all day. Conclusion: This has become an indispensable step in my routine. Not my favorite scent
I had the pleasure of testing the Nioxin Anti-Hairloss Serum through Lyko Influtester, in combination with the Nioxin System 3 Trial Kit, Density Defend Mask, and Night Density Rescue. Here are my impressions after a few weeks of use. First impression & consistency: The serum comes in a handy pump bottle, which makes it easy to dose. The consistency is light, but I have found it to be a bit sticky, which can make the application somewhat less pleasant compared to the other serums I have used. User-friendliness: The application is smooth – I use 2-3 pumps on the scalp every day and massage it in evenly. Even though it absorbs quickly, I don’t think it sinks in as well as the other serums. It leaves a somewhat sticky feeling that I’m not entirely fond of. The bottle states that you can use up to 15 pumps in the hair, which I could never manage, I actually think that more than 2 pumps makes my hair way too sticky, plus it gets very expensive, and who needs that much, I wonder!? 🥲 Effect & results: After using the serum along with the other Nioxin products, I have started to notice positive changes, such as my hair feeling stronger and thicker. The scalp feels healthy and balanced, and I have also noticed a reduction in hair loss. However, I am unsure if these effects are a result of this serum, as I also stopped using minoxidil when I started using all six Nioxin products. Scent: Unfortunately, the scent of the serum is the only thing I’m not particularly fond of. It reminds me of old lady perfume, which I find to be a less pleasant aspect of the product. Summary: The Nioxin Anti-Hairloss Serum is a good addition to my hair care routine, despite its sticky feeling and scent. It is easy to use and provides results that I am satisfied with, even though I am not sure how much of this can be attributed to the serum. Price-wise, Nioxin is at 808 SEK for 70 ml, which is significantly more than Minoxidil 5%, which costs around 150-200 SEK for 50 ml. I still don’t know if I will repurchase the Nioxin serum when the bottle runs out. ⭐ Rating: 3/5 An effective serum that gives visibly thicker and stronger hair, but the stickiness and scent can be deterrent factors. I have tested Nioxin Night Density Rescue through Lyko Influtester and used it in combination with "Nioxin - System 3 - Trial Kit for Colored Thinning Hair", "Nioxin - Density Defend - Anti-Breakage Strengthening Mask" and "Nioxin - Ultimate Power™ - Anti-Hairloss Treatment". It's important to mention that I have stopped using minoxidil, so my results are based solely on these products. First impression & consistency: The serum is light and absorbs directly into the scalp without leaving any residue. It doesn't feel greasy, sticky, or heavy, which I really appreciate. The hair retains its natural feel and feels airy in the morning. Scent: The scent is fresh, floral, and perfumed with a slight alcohol note, but still pleasant. It is relatively strong upon application but fades quickly. Ease of use: The application is smooth – a few drops in the scalp, a light massage, and then it's done. I have used it both on dry and damp hair in the evening, and it disappears quickly into the skin without being sticky. It's a big plus that it doesn't need to be rinsed out. Effect & results: Since I have used this serum together with the System 3 Trial Kit, Density Defend Mask, and Ultimate Power™ Treatment, it's hard to determine exactly which product does what. However, my scalp has felt fresh, balanced, and hydrated, and my hair feels light and airy in the morning. I can't say if it has increased hair density yet, but it hasn't caused any irritation or discomfort, which is a plus. Summary: A light and gentle night serum that does not negatively affect the hair's feel or leave a residue. I like the fresh scent and how quickly it absorbs. I tested the Nioxin Anti-Breakage Strengthening Mask through Lyko Influtester and used it as step 2 after shampoo and before conditioner in the Nioxin series. Here is my honest experience after a few weeks of use. First impression & consistency: The packaging feels professional and maintains the same style as the other products in the series. The mask has a creamy, light consistency that is easy to distribute in the hair. The scent is mild and pleasant, without any strong minty feeling, which I appreciate. User-friendliness: I applied it directly after shampooing and let it sit for 3–5 minutes before rinsing out and finishing with the conditioner. It rinses out easily and leaves no heavy or oily feeling in the hair. Effect & results: The hair felt moisturized and easier to comb through, which is a big plus for me. However, I did not notice a significant reduction in broken hair strands, but the fact that the hair is easier to comb through does reduce the risk! In fact, my broken ends were almost more visible than before, probably because the product does not contain heavy silicones that can otherwise give a more smoothing effect on damaged lengths. Summary: This is a good mask if you want extra moisture between shampoo and conditioner, without weighing the hair down. However, it doesn’t do much to hide split ends or reduce visible breakage in the hair. Wished for a bit more glow
I have now had the chance to test this glow primer with SPF, the first thing that struck me is the smart packaging, I love tubes as it is easier to dose the amount and more hygienic! I have used this product as my 4th step every morning, first serum, then eye cream, face cream, and finally this one, it has worked super well, it locks in the moisture from both the day cream and serum so that the skin stays hydrated all day, plus it protects against free radicals and harmful light! You need about 2-3 fingers of product, just like with all other SPF, it goes on super nicely on the skin and both sinks in but also leaves a well-hydrated, plump, and glowy surface that is perfect under makeup! It smells good and it really feels like the fine lines disappear after use, all dryness lines are like gone! It really fulfills its function as a primer, I have also mixed it with my skintint foundation and liquid highlighter which has given me the perfect base. I have combination skin but I always feel dry and sensitive around the eyes, this one has not irritated my eyes (except when I accidentally got it in my eyes, do not recommend 😂), it feels very gentle, I have not had any irritations at all! I would recommend this primer for all ages, it is a perfect base and works year-round, even though it can be good to add an SPF 30-50 as extra protection during the hottest months. You really don’t need much product, it goes on super nicely on the skin and both sinks in but also leaves a well-moisturized, plump, and glowy surface that is perfect under makeup, no greasy finish at all! It smells good and it really feels like the fine lines disappear after use, all dryness lines are like gone! The packaging and jar are incredibly well-made and really exude luxury, plus it came with a small plastic spatula, which is more hygienic and makes the product last longer! As you can see, there is still a lot of product left, so I definitely find it to be economical, which for me means the price is very reasonable! I have combination skin with dryness, and since this sinks in right away, it doesn’t work as a standalone product for me, but since I also got to test their glow primer, this was no problem!
