    A little Monday haul!

What’s better than starting the week with a package?! It was exactly what I needed right in the middle of writing my thesis 🤩🙌🏻

Easy to use but strong scent

I got to try this mousse from #rebeccastella as #lykoinflutester, and I’m a real beginner when it comes to self-tanner! I’ll start with the reason it’s not five stars, and that is the scent. It smells very strongly of coconut, and that’s a scent I find very difficult. And yes, I can prefer it over the classic self-tanner smell BUT, that also comes. After a few hours, the classic scent mixes with the coconut scent, and that’s where I draw the line 😅 Otherwise? It’s a very dark mousse, which results in a solid color guard, and THAT, MY FRIENDS, I appreciate! 🙌🏻 It’s so easy to see where you’ve applied it and where you’ve missed, so the risk of mistakes decreases drastically. It’s easy to blend out and feels moisturizing on the body. Not even on my driest areas has it settled extra! Even on day 3-4 it still looks great and still has a very clear color (the picture of the legs is day 3). I let it sit for about 5 hours before showering and then had a significantly darker color than before 😊 The negative thing for me, but which is in no way the product’s “fault,” is that it’s a bit too warm for me. I prefer something a bit more neutral in color.

    Smooth spray

I got to try this mist from #rebeccastella as #lykoinflutester and have only positive things to say about it! First and foremost, it’s so incredibly easy to use, many have warned that it can get patchy if you spray directly on the face, so of course I tested that! And I couldn’t see any patchiness at all 🙌🏻 but my favorite way is to spray it on a makeup brush and buff it into the skin. Then I start as if I had applied a bronzer and afterwards I take what’s left and go over the rest of the face. It’s so good that the mist gradually gets darker so it’s hard to make a “mistake” with it, which I really appreciate when it’s the face we’re talking about 😅 Otherwise, it smells like coconut and that’s not a scent I prefer, but this one was actually quite okay! So I can overlook that. It feels moisturizing on the skin, no tightness at all on my dry skin.

New in the self-tanner shelf ☀️

Here’s a video where I test Rebecca Stella’s new self-tanning mousse and their mist that many might already recognize. There won’t be a longer text here about them, but in the coming days, reviews will be posted on the respective product pages as I’ve received these to test as #lykoinflutester 🥰 Until then, let the video speak for itself!

    Soft application but poor design

Got to try #REBECCASTELLA self tan mitt via #LYKOINFLUTESTER The glove's material is very soft on the skin and distributes the product quite well. I think it can leave some streaks when you go over one spot two or more times, but it evens out if you continue in circular motions and work the product out more than you think is possible. However, it is quite thin and the product went through the glove, so some got on the palm during application, which is not what I had hoped for. Furthermore, it is quite narrow at the bottom which on one hand prevents it from slipping off, but on the other hand makes it difficult to switch hands during application without touching the area where the product is. It is also a bit too small for me as I often have longer nails, which means the thumb doesn't fit where it should, and it is also a bit stiff and doesn't become soft to use if you want to use the area between thumb and hand to work around curves like the arm, for example. But it probably works very well for someone with smaller hands or without long nails, and if you switch sides of the glove often during application. I won't buy this one myself but I also won't throw it away; it will be used if the other one I have at home isn't clean/gone.

    Comparison

Right now, I am comparing these two, side by side, to see which one suits my hair best. They are not exactly the same type of product as they work with slightly different technology. But both products are leave-in products applied to towel-dried hair after shampoo only and without conditioner afterwards. Both products work to strengthen the hair strand from within, and this is where the difference lies 😊 K18 has its patented peptide that aims to restore the hair at a molecular level by repairing the keratin chain in the hair strand by being a copy of the hair’s own building blocks. Meanwhile, Maria Nila works with amino acids that link broken sulfur bonds and chia peptides that mimic the hair’s natural cuticle. Would you like an update when I have tested more thoroughly? 😊

    Drier formula

Unfortunately not a mascara that suits me, but surely many others. Those who like a mascara that is on the drier side and has naturally curled lashes should try this. For me, it falls pretty flat, literally and figuratively. It doesn't hold the curl if I've curled my lashes before applying, and since it's a very dry formula, it flakes a lot, which I almost never experience otherwise. It also doesn't give much length, and I can't build it up to get more length or possibly a bit of volume on the outer edges. It is supposed to separate the lashes, and yes, it does that somewhat, but since I have to work so much with it to get mascara on all lashes and all the way, they unfortunately clump together anyway. I actually mostly like volumizing mascaras, so it didn't have the best conditions from the start, but I have no problem using lengthening mascaras otherwise if that's what I have. But I won't reach for or use this one up, unfortunately.

    Moisture bomb that also repairs!

This quickly became a favorite in my bathroom cabinet, it’s an incredibly lightweight leave-in product that delivers on all fronts! With hyaluronic acid that locks in moisture and sunflower oil that both seals in moisture and adds softness and shine, it gives the hair what it needs to add moisture to dry hair. But it doesn’t stop there, there’s also a plant keratin (a protein) that works to fill in damage in the cuticle layer, helping moisture stay in the hair strand! For my dry hair with natural waves that has been both bleached and colored, and where a heat tool or two has been used, this is a dream! I don’t get any feeling that the hair becomes greasy or looks greasy, and it works just as well on dry and towel-dried hair. I do prefer it on dry hair though, as I find these pump nozzles a bit annoying after showering since my hands get wet again. What I do is either spray it on my hairbrush and then run it through my hair or spray it in my hand and apply it like a conditioner. An extra plus is that it’s a Swedish brand!

    Easy-to-use moisture bomb

A product that truly provides intense hydration as it claims. With hyaluronic acid and polyglutamic acid to capture and lock in moisture, and squalane to seal it in, it makes the hair soft, shiny, and healthy! The trigger nozzle makes it easy to use after showering when hands are slightly wet from holding the hair, and also provides a comfortable application otherwise. I usually use it both on towel-dried hair and on dry hair. On dry hair, I prefer either spraying it on a hairbrush and then running it through the hair or spraying a little in my hand and using it as a conditioner. I have dry hair with natural waves and many thin and thick strands, so I need a lot of moisture and can use this several days in a row or alternate between different products. I don’t feel that the hair becomes or looks greasy with prolonged use and find that it becomes less frizzy.

Is there any downside to working at Lyko?

I got that question on Instagram and thought I'd share the answer here too! (If you have any questions about a product in the video, just let me know!) 💗

Do you work in Umeå? I’ll try to stop and go into the store this summer on the way to Skellefteå, if we leave earlier than usual 😃🩷
