What is NAC?
NAC (N-acetyl L-cysteine) is a form of cysteine, an amino acid found naturally in our body. Cysteine, in turn, is sulfur-bearing and helps, among other things, to maintain the quality of our skin and produce glutathione, which in turn acts as an antioxidant.



What do NAC and Glutathione do?
Cysteine is produced in the liver and is found naturally in, among other things, hair, skin and connective tissue where it functions as a building component. It is also part of several digestive enzymes and also plays a role in metabolism.

Cysterin, together with the amino acids glycine and glutamic acid, is a precursor to the tripeptide glutathione. Glutathione is considered one of the main antioxidants, whose task is to protect the body's cells against oxidative stress caused by free radicals. Glutathione is found in all cells of the body where it helps protect the cell and repair damage. The substance is also linked to the body's detoxification system, and most of the body's glutathione reserves are found in the liver. In addition to having antioxidant properties in itself, glutathione is also considered to support the effect of the antioxidants vitamins C and E. The body's glutathione levels are not constant, but can be affected by certain conditions such as illness, stress and oxidative stress. The levels can also be negatively affected by increasing age.



How much NAC should I take?
There is no actual set recommended dose of NAC. But an intake of 600-1800mg per day has been shown in studies to have a good effect. If you choose to take a high dose of NAC, you should divide the intake over the day, this to optimize your absorption.

Use:
1 capsule, up to three times per day between meals.
