Roman chamomile oil (Anthemis nobilis L) hails from France and is crafted through steam distillation of the plant's flowers. It boasts a warm, sweet, fruity, and fresh aroma, making it a popular choice in perfumes and other fragrance blends.
In aromatherapy, this oil is celebrated for its calming properties, which can help reduce stress, worry, and anxiety, while providing a soothing effect on the senses.
Chamomile is a GRAS-approved essential oil and can be used as a natural flavoring in food and beverages. Use it sparingly, as the essential oil is highly concentrated and can become overpowering. Typically, just one or two drops will do the trick.
In skincare, Roman chamomile can help alleviate skin irritations or provide a cooling sensation after sun exposure. Its gentle nature makes it a great option for those with sensitive skin.
Roman chamomile pairs beautifully with other essential oils like neroli, bergamot, grapefruit, patchouli, or sage. Fragrance note: Middle note.
For topical use, always blend Roman chamomile oil with a cold-pressed vegetable oil and apply to the skin or use in other aromatherapy methods. Maximum dosage is 2% concentration (18 drops) in 30 ml of vegetable oil.
Usage:
Diluted in oil (max. 2% / max. 5 drops of essential oil with 1 tbsp of oil) on the skin or as aromatherapy. Start with a small area to check for tolerance. Health hazardous when undiluted.
Be sure to wash your skin thoroughly after use. Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames, or other ignition sources, and avoid using it while smoking. Steer clear of inhaling concentrated steam/spray.
