It's not entirely true that silicones are "bad" for hair, but they have gotten a bit of an undeserved reputation. Silicones found in hair care lay a thin film around the hair strand, providing shine, softness, and protection against wear and heat. For many, it works very well, especially if the hair is dry or damaged. The downside can be that some heavier silicones can build up over time, especially if you don't use a clarifying shampoo in between. Therefore, some experience that their hair can feel heavy or greasy faster. The silicones in this product (Silicone Quaternium-18 and Polysilicone-29) are more modern and lighter variants, which often wash out easier than the old "heavy" silicones.
