My skincare journey – now starting six months with retinal ✨

Yesterday I had a facial treatment, and during the treatment, the skin therapist asked me what skincare routine I use at home. I told her how I take care of my skin and what types of products I usually use. It actually made me very happy when she then told me what she thought about my skin. She said that my skin looks and feels younger than my age, that it is very well moisturized, elastic, and has a nice balance. She simply thought I should continue with what I’m already doing because my routine seems to work very well for my skin. ✨ For me, it was an extra confirmation that regular skincare can actually make a difference. I don’t believe that a single product can change everything overnight. For me, skincare is more about consistency – cleansing the skin, giving it proper moisture, protecting the skin barrier, and above all, being consistent with the routine. But now I feel it’s time to take my skincare a step further. 🥰 Yesterday I ordered Medik8 Crystal Retinal 6, and it will be the next addition to my routine. I have long been interested in retinal and what regular use can do for mature skin. My goal is primarily to work long-term on skin texture, radiance, fine lines, and a more even skin tone – while maintaining the good moisture balance and elasticity my skin already has. The most important thing for me will be not to get too eager. Just because the skin is doing well today doesn’t mean I need to use many strong products at once. On the contrary, I want to introduce retinal carefully and give the skin time to get used to it. I therefore plan to create a proper skincare schedule for the next six months where retinal will have a clear place alongside moisturizing, barrier care, and sun protection. ☀️ I won’t judge the results after a few days or a couple of weeks. I really want to give the routine time. Six months feels like an exciting period to follow the development and see if I notice changes in skin texture, radiance, evenness, and how the skin feels overall. I also plan to document my skin during the journey. 📸 Same light, roughly the same angle, and preferably without makeup or filters, so I can actually compare the skin fairly. It can be very easy to forget how the skin looked when you started when changes happen slowly. What feels extra fun is that I’m starting this six-month period from a place where my skin already feels good. The skin therapist described it as moisturized, elastic, and well-balanced and told me to continue with what I’m doing. So I don’t want to change my entire routine – I want to build on what already works. So now my little six-month project with Medik8 Crystal Retinal 6 begins. ✨ I’m 44 years old and actually think skincare gets even more fun with age. For me, it’s not about trying to look 20 again, but about taking care of the skin I have and helping it feel as good as possible. Yesterday I ordered my retinal. Now six months of consistent skincare begins. 🧴✨ We’ll see what happens and what results I can get. I’m really curious to see how my skin will look in six months. 😍 Day 1 → see you in six months! ✨

    Medik8 Crystal Retinal 6 – a product that deserves patience ✨

There is skincare that gives a lovely feeling in the moment, and then there are products you only truly start to appreciate after they've been part of your routine for a while. Crystal Retinal 6 belongs to the latter category for me. The first thing I was drawn to was the formula. It is light, silky, and surprisingly pleasant for an active step in the evening routine. It spreads nicely over the skin, absorbs without any heavy residue, and works very well under my moisturizing night cream. But it is after continuous use that I think the product shows its strength. The change hasn’t been dramatic from one evening to the next – rather subtle in that way where you suddenly realize your skin actually looks different. I experience a smoother and more even skin texture, more clarity, and above all that beautiful glow that makes the skin look healthy even without makeup. I also appreciate that Medik8 has managed to make the application itself so elegant. The pump dispenses just the right amount, the product feels fresh every time, and the packaging is both functional and beautiful. It might sound like a small detail, but for me, that’s the kind of thing that separates a good product from a truly well-thought-out product. Is it cheap? No. And that’s exactly why my expectations would have been high if I had bought it myself. But after using it, there’s one thing that says the most about my opinion: I would miss it if it disappeared from my evening routine. And for me, that might be the finest compliment a skincare product can get🤍 #lykomission #lykoreview

    Medik8 3 or 6?

Hi! I have used Geek & Gorgeous A-Game 5 0.05% Retinal Serum without major results, nor any side effects. Now I want to switch to Medik8. Should I choose number 3 or 6? Thanks in advance!

Hello Harris! 😊 Medik8 Crystal Retinal 6 is a reasonable next step if you tolerated 0.05% retinal without irritation, Crystal Retinal 3 is a gentler start if you want to ramp up even more slowly. Start with 2-3 evenings a week, gradually increase to every evening after 2-4 weeks if the skin feels good, apply on dry skin and always use SPF during the day. Crystal Retinal 3: lyko.com/sv/medik8/medik8-crystal-retinal-3-serum-30-ml and Crystal Retinal 6: lyko.com/sv/medik8/medik8-crystal-retinl-6-cream-30ml All the best! 😍️

    Medik8 Crystal Retinal 6

Hi. I just picked up my latest order which included Medik8 Crystal Retinal 6. I was about to try it now, but noticed that the tube is half full. Is it supposed to be like that? It’s kind of flat halfway down the tube where there’s no product. Considering the price, I would expect it to at least be full even though it only contains 30ml.

Hi Erica 😊 This comes as 30 ml, and this type of tube/airless solution often leaves some space and can look flat further down without the amount being less. Gently massage the tube so the contents distribute and prime the pump with a few presses until product comes out. If it still clearly seems underfilled: file a complaint via My Pages 16 Order History 16 select your order 16 Complaint and attach photos of the tube, and we will assist further. Crystal Retinal is a faster form of vitamin A than retinol, so start gradually in the evening and use sunscreen during the day. Have a nice day! 🌼

    Around the Eyes

Can this be used on the skin around the eyes?

Hi Elfrid😊 It can be used on the face, but we recommend avoiding the area directly around the eyes as the skin there is extra sensitive. If you want to use retinal around the eyes, it's better to choose an eye product that is specifically tailored for that area, from the same series, like this one: lyko.com/sv/medik8/medik8-crystal-retinal-ceramide-eye-6-15-ml It's important to gradually introduce it and start carefully, then increase if the skin responds well. Don't forget sunscreen during the day🌞 Hope the answer can be helpful!

    Combines with other products

How can this product be combined with niacinamide and azelaic acid (both from The Ordinary)?

Hey Hanna😊 Medik8 Crystal Retinal 6 Cream 30ml can be combined with niacinamide and azelaic acid, but not all at the same time. A safe way is: niacinamide in the morning, retinal in the evening, and azelaic acid on evenings when you’re not using retinal. Start gradually and always use sunscreen during the day. Hope the answer can be helpful and that you have a super nice day💫

    Laser?

I use IPL laser at home with a Braun machine on my face once a week. Can this be used in conjunction?

Hey Nora! 👋 I wouldn't recommend using Medik8 Crystal Retinal 6 while doing IPL treatments at home. Retinal makes the skin thinner and more sensitive, and IPL is a heat and light treatment that also stresses the skin. Together, they can increase the risk of irritation, pigmentation, burns, or slow recovery ✨ Here are some tips to follow: Before IPL: Pause the use of retinal for at least 5–7 days (7–10 days for sensitive skin). Also avoid other active ingredients like acids and strong vitamin C. After IPL: Wait until the skin is completely restored (no redness, tightness, or heat), usually 7–10 days, before starting with Retinal again. Start cautiously with lower strength or fewer nights a week. Sun protection: SPF 30–50 every day is extra important both during the IPL course and when using Retinal. Rule of thumb: Always pause Retinal during an ongoing IPL course, and only reintroduce it when the skin is stable. Take care! 🤍

    Combine with other products

Hi. I use this every evening. I have 2 questions: *I also use Niacinamide serum. How can I combine these 2? Should I use the Niacinamide in the morning, or in the evening before Medik8? *When this runs out, should I then get a stronger Medik8? If so, which one?

Hey Linda 👋😊 You are on the right track, use your niacinamide in the morning and the retinal in the evening to combine them best 😍🙌 If your skin feels stable and you want to work more on fine lines, pigmentation, skin texture, you can increase to retinal 10 👇 lyko.com/sv/medik8/medik8-crystal-retinl-10-cream-30ml Start every other evening for 1-2 weeks and then increase to every evening if your skin feels good 🤍 Good luck!!

How do I choose the right strength?

Hi! I use the “Retinal + Niacinamide Youth Serum” from the brand “Youth to the People” which contains 0.15% stabilized retinaldehyde. I really like the product but I'm curious about Medik8 and their retinal, so I'm wondering which product I should choose from Medik8 considering what I'm using today? I would be very grateful for guidance!

I understand! When I look, it seems like Medik8 Crystal Retinal 10 – contains about 0.10 % retinaldehyde, which is close to your current strength and a good alternative. If you want to start cautiously, choose Crystal Retinal 6 (0.06 %) and ramp up later. Tip: Introduce the product gradually anyway, even if the strength is similar – just a reminder that the formula differs between brands. Feel free to continue with soothing and moisturizing products in parallel. Hope this can help you a bit on your way and wish you good luck with your skincare😊
