Finally (!!) cracked the code 🥹👏🏻
I was so lucky to receive Milk Makeup's Hydro Grip Primer as a #LYKOINFLUTESTER 💚 I am 34 years old, have normal to dry skin. A bit sensitive at times if products contain a lot of fragrance. I have a few lines around my eyes, and a small one by my mouth. And I get a few pimples/bumps now and then. To be honest, I have tested this before. DID NOT get it to work on my skin 🥲 But this time I decided to do a little research and test it out for several days with different techniques - until I found the “right” way to use it. Because this is apparently a primer that you either love or hate, depending on the right technique. Guess what? I have finally cracked the code - at least for my skin 🥹👏🏻👏🏻 First of all, this is a primer with both hyaluronic acid and niacinamide. So skincare! 😍 The first and biggest mistake I made with this is applying other moisture serums and moisturizers before I applied the primer. That’s the first mistake people make, I think - myself included. It becomes butter on bacon and usually ends up with a lot of pilling of both skincare and makeup along the way. Less is more, even when it comes to skincare 😂 So step number one; Pat a thin toner into the entire face as the only prep before the primer. I do this just so the skincare in the primer can penetrate deeper into the skin, giving lots of moisture. Then I pump out 2 pumps of primer onto my hand and distribute it all over my face. The consistency is a light gel. At first, it is very easy to spread, but becomes sticky the more you work it into the skin. I apply it first like a moisturizer, before I gently pat it in until I feel it starting to get sticky. This also helps the primer press into fine lines and pores. Then I wait 1 minute before I apply makeup over it. When I apply foundation/skin tint and concealer over, I always press the products in with a brush. I never drag the brush over the skin!! Pilling of skin/makeup can still happen if you have dry skin or haven’t exfoliated in a while, which is more likely to happen if you drag the brush over the face. Important to remember 🥹 And these are the steps that have worked perfectly for me and this primer 💚 The result on my makeup after a whole day at work was truly impressive. The smile line I have next to my mouth, where the makeup ALWAYS creases - was still completely smooth when I got home from work!! 😮 And that’s not a given here. So I finally understand the hype around this primer and will actually continue to use it. Because wow, what an insane result. The only negative thing I have to say is that I feel like my skin feels a bit “heavier” with this on. It could be that it’s because I’m not used to using primers regularly. But my skin doesn’t feel dry, just a bit “tight” in a way. As if I have on a slightly thicker layer of makeup than I usually wear. Therefore, I think that what is stated in the description about it not giving a “heavy feeling” doesn’t quite hold true. Also, I think the price is very high compared to how little product you get, especially in a 10ml. The next largest at 45ml is also maybe a little product, in relation to the price. But it’s nice to wish for as a birthday or Christmas gift 😍 Can absolutely be recommended - if you use it correctly! 💚 #MILKMAKEUPTranslated from norwegian

Way too expensive
I've tried this primer from Milk a few times now, but unfortunately I'm not convinced. Especially because it's so expensive for such an extremely small package. So I expect almost miracles, but was disappointed. The biggest reason for the low rating is that I feel it almost makes my skin dry. I usually apply my liquid foundation with my fingers, and it doesn't glide out as well and easily as it usually does with this primer underneath. Sometimes it almost seemed like the foundation was flaking a bit, or however I should describe it. The formula is a bit gel-like like most other primers. It glides on the skin, and when you start to pat it in with your fingers, it sticks a little, but not too much. Spontaneously, I think that “sticky” is usually synonymous with good grip. However, this stickiness almost completely disappears after the minute you are supposed to wait before applying foundation, and the only difference I feel on my skin is that it is a little less oily. I usually tend to get a bit oily, especially on my forehead, and if this primer does anything, it’s to reduce that oiliness a bit. It also says that you can use it alone, but I don’t see the point in that at all since I don’t notice any difference in how my skin looks when it comes to glow. One pump was enough for my face, but still half the bottle is empty after maybe 5-6 uses. No bang for your buck here unfortunately! If it had been cheaper, the rating wouldn’t have been as low, but this feels like a robbery. The amount on the back of the hand in the video is one pump! #LYKOINFLUTESTER #MILKMAKEUPTranslated from swedish

Best!
I have had this primer for a while now and I love it! It feels good on the face and makes the makeup last longer I have combination skin on my face I get very dry around the nose while my forehead and chin tend to get oily You don’t need to use much for it to cover the whole face, so it’s a long-lasting product I avoid putting it right under the eyes (since the skin is so thin there, I try to use as little product as possible there) I always let it dry for about 1-2 minutes after applying before I put on any other product It gets very sticky (which is the point) so the other makeup sits nicely and well on the face It doesn’t smell much either, which is good for those who are sensitive to scentsTranslated from swedish

What happens when I use it? It ruins the makeup.
I’ve tried using this under my makeup for a long time, I apply it all over my face, including the area under my eyes. When I then apply concealer, the area turns red and has no makeup. I have no way to cover up the area where I first had primer, then tried to apply concealer and it looks SO UGLY. What’s the deal? Should you only use it on cheeks and forehead for example?Translated from norwegian
228 views- Customer service at Lyko1 weekHi! Marianne☀ Thank you for sharing your experience with the Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer. It’s understandable that it can be frustrating when makeup doesn’t sit as expected. The Hydro Grip Primer is known for its sticky consistency, which is designed to "grip" the makeup and extend its wear. However, this property can sometimes lead to challenges, especially in the sensitive area under the eyes. Here are some tips to improve the results: Let the primer dry completely: After applying, wait about 60 seconds until the primer has dried completely before applying concealer. This gives the product time to set and create a smooth base. Apply with gentle motions: Avoid rubbing or pulling at the skin when applying concealer over the primer. Instead, use light, tapping motions with a sponge or your fingertips to prevent the products from mixing and creating unevenness. Consider the amount of primer: A small amount of primer is often sufficient, especially under the eyes. Too much product can make it harder for concealer to adhere properly. Use a dedicated eye primer: The Hydro Grip Primer is primarily developed for the face. For the area under the eyes, it may be more appropriate to use a primer specifically formulated for this sensitive area, such as the Hydro Grip Eye Primer. If you still experience issues, it might be wise to test the primer on other areas of the face, like the cheeks and forehead, to see how it performs there. Remember that all skin types are unique, and what works for one person may not work for another. We hope these tips help you get the most out of the product. Don’t hesitate to reach out again if you have more questions or need further guidance✨

Tried, tested and true
I got to test this for Lyko, but I may have already tested this before🤫 Okay then, I have been using Hydro Grip for a long time, and I always come back to it😜 I think this is a really good primer that gives a lovely hydrated feeling, makes the skin smooth, and helps the makeup sit much better throughout the day. The slightly sticky finish right after application makes the foundation/tinted serum really stick and stay💅 I think this is perfect under both light bases and heavier makeup 🥰 And the fact that it also comes in mini makes it super practical for the bag or travel! Now I have a mini in my travel bag and a large version in the bathroom at home! #lykoinflutester #milkmakeupTranslated from norwegian

Love ✨
This primer has been through a lot and still keeps the makeup in place. Together with the setting spray, this is the only thing that keeps the makeup in place all day with a lot of sweating and other things. It is soothing on the skin and doesn't feel sticky. Feels like a moisturizer. Smells good. I think the packaging is a bit poor as I dropped it on the floor and everything got ruined so it couldn't be used, but I glued it with super glue so it still works. I just bought a new one as my old one that has lasted long is empty! #konkurranseinflutesterTranslated from norwegian

Absolutely fantastic!
I have never come across a primer that holds so well on the makeup throughout the whole day like this one! It makes the makeup lay nicely and has an absolutely incredible hold. I have been using this for almost 3 years now and can never see myself going back to any other. It works absolutely amazing with the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray!Translated from norwegian

An ok primer
Unfortunately, I don't have very many similar products to compare with, as I don't usually use primer. I definitely think it helps the makeup apply better. When it comes to longevity throughout the day, I can't actually say that I feel a noticeable difference. However, plus points for the lovely texture and that I feel my skin is much better prepped for the makeup. #lykoinflutester #milkmakeupTranslated from norwegian

Moisturizing primer with lovely glow!
This primer really lives up to its reputation! It has a light and gel-like consistency that melts into the skin without feeling sticky. The product is silicone-free, which is a big plus since silicone is water-repellent, so it doesn't work well in primer, and it keeps the makeup in place all day. The primer contains hyaluronic acid and niacinamide, both of which are products I like to use in my skincare routine as I find they provide a nice hydrated feel and a natural glow, without the skin feeling oily. The makeup applies evenly on top, and I think my foundation looks smoother and holds better with the primer. I even think it works just as well alone for a fresh, hydrated look as it does under makeup. It's a bit hard to determine, but I would say that with this primer, my makeup holds better throughout the day! However, I would say that I didn't have any wow experience; in this price range, you might find a better product. If you're looking for a primer that both cares for the skin and keeps the makeup looking nice longer, this one is definitely worth a try! I've added pictures of just the primer and of the primer with makeup on. #LYKOINFLUTESTER #MILKMAKEUPTranslated from swedish

Pretty okay but nothing wow
As a #lykoinflutester, I had the honor of trying this product from #milkmakeup ✨ This is a product that unfortunately didn't completely convince me, so I have to join many of the other reviews that say it's... so-so. For starters, I feel like I would have liked it to be a bit stickier to be a primer, but I also think it held up well throughout the day, so maybe it's just my preconceived notions about primers that are haunting me here. However, I am also someone who applies my makeup with my fingers, and I found that the makeup kind of... flowed out a bit too much, it was hard to get it in place all at once. It probably would have gone better if I had used a beauty blender and patted everything in, hehe. Secondly, I agree that the price is outrageous for the small product and that I also feel like you have to use quite a bit of product for it to really feel like you have a primer on your face for the makeup to set into. So the sum of the matter is that I will probably use this on a few more special occasions when I apply heavier makeup (with a beauty blender), but I probably wouldn't buy it again. 🫣Translated from swedish

Good base!
I recently had the opportunity to test out Milk Makeup's Hydro Grip Primer, and I am impressed. This primer has a light and silky consistency that makes it easy to apply. It feels a bit tacky when applied to the skin, but once it sets, it glides smoothly over the skin and creates a perfect base for makeup. One of the best features of this primer is that it really keeps the makeup in place all day. I find that it reduces the visibility of pores and fine lines, giving a more even appearance. I have used it under different types of makeup, but mainly the Hydro Grip Gel Tint, and I have noticed that it and other products sit much better and stay consistent throughout the day. I have not experienced any fading or transfer of makeup, which is a big plus. I have sensitive skin with some acne. And the primer has not triggered my skin. The only negative about this is maybe the price, but I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for long-lasting and flawless makeup. If you are willing to spend a little money on makeup! It is perfect under all types of makeup, but it works really well with the other products in the Milk Makeup line. Super cute packaging, and even though the color looks green in the container - it is not when it goes on the skin! #lykoinflutester #milkmakeupTranslated from norwegian

Totally okay 😬
I got the chance to test the Milk Makeup Mini Hydro Grip Primer 💗 I want to start by mentioning that I usually don’t use primer because I think it’s a bit of an unnecessary step, hehe 🤓 But I’ve been testing this one for a while now and I think it’s okay! It gives a nice glow and helps the makeup last a bit better throughout the day. It doesn’t smell much, which is a big plus! It’s a very small packaging so it runs out very quickly, but it’s perfect in the makeup bag when you’re traveling or don’t have much space. I like that the packaging is transparent so you can see how much product is left. #LYKOINFLUTESTER #MILKMAKEUPTranslated from swedish
