A young classic
This gem has been my favorite perfume since it was released in 2019, and I have truly been obsessed with it. Rarely do I buy the same perfume multiple times, but this one is an exception. I must honestly say that I have gotten a bit tired of it over the past year, but itâs still very fun to get this assignment as #lykoinflutester since I will try to pinpoint what it is about this that got me so hooked: Besides the fact that I am sold on the bottle itself, which I think is a luxurious and sexy piece of art in itself, I have loved the scent as I said. Libre is a wearable perfume that I think works for both day and night, all seasons, a perfect all-round perfume. However, I would say it is most optimal for the evening, as it can be a bit strong for scent-sensitive colleagues at the office. I find that the scent becomes even nicer after a couple of hours on the body as the vanilla becomes more prominent and the lavender scent tones down. (Strangely enough, I have liked this so much since I am not a big fan of lavender). I perceive this perfume as feminine and safe, but lately, I feel it lacks that little extra something. Maybe because I have "overused" it or maybe because it has become a bit too popular, so it has lost its magic for me. (Only because of this does it not get a full score) Anyway, it IS a very nice perfume that has given me many compliments, both from men and women, and it is also a perfume with long-lasting power! I would say it easily lasts about 8 hours if not more, which I think is really good! Luxurious, but not for me.
So, if I got happy & excited when I received YSLâs Libre as an influencer assignment?! At the same time, I suspected that this might not really be my scent. Since Nina and I talked about this, as she has had it as a favorite, but described it as a scent that is not âfor meâ. And yes, my suspicions were confirmed. Reviewing scents is what I find the hardest. But I will do my best. YSLâs Libre is described as a scent for the strong and brave woman. And I think thatâs a perfect description for who the scent suits. Libre is a super-feminine scent. It is luxurious & sophisticated. The bottle feels luxurious, and YSL is probably associated with luxury by most. According to the description, the first scent notes should be lavender and orange blossom. Then it describes, among others, mandarin oil, Arabian jasmine, vanilla extract, and musk. My own experience of Libre is that I only smell orange blossom. đ€ And unfortunately⊠Libre is way too heavy for me. And no, itâs not super heavy. There are many heavier scents. But I felt already at the first use that it was too heavy for me. Itâs of course a matter of taste what one likes and feels comfortable in. But if you like, like me, light floral scents, and occasionally a bit sweet scents (like Dolce & Gabbanaâs devotion), then Libre is not the right scent. However, I have to give Libre that it has a really good longevity on the skin. An EDP lasts longer than an EDT. But Libre has extra long (good?) longevity, I think. đ€âš A perfume I truly understand the hype about!
I have really fallen for Yves Saint Laurent Libre Eau de Parfum! This is the kind of perfume that I find incredibly elegant without being boring or too cautious. It really has personality. đ„čâš The first thing I notice when I spray it is that lovely combination of lavender and orange blossom. I think the opening feels fresh and quite confident, but after a while it becomes warmer and softer on the skin. What I like most is actually how the scent develops. At first, it feels a bit fresher and more floral, but the longer I wear it, the more the warm feeling with vanilla, musk, and woody notes comes through. đ€ That means I donât get tired of it after the first spray. And the longevity is really good! I think this is the kind of perfume where I can still smell it several hours later, especially on clothes. So I donât need to keep reapplying all the time, which I really appreciate. I think itâs especially suitable when I want to feel a bit more put together, feminine, and luxurious. Itâs definitely a perfume I would choose for a dinner or a night out, but I also think it works well for everyday if you use a little less. đ„° The bottle is also incredibly beautiful. It really feels like a little luxury product to have out, and the iconic YSL design with the gold details adds a lot to the whole experience. đ€âš The only thing I would say is that this isnât the lightest or most discreet scent. It has quite a lot of personality and can feel a bit intense if you spray a lot. But for me, thatâs more part of the charm. This is simply a perfume I like to wear when I want to leave a sophisticated, warm, and confident scent trail behind me. I think it smells good but it smells very strong and intense, I got a bit of a headache from it to be honest, but if you like elegant and spicy scents this one is perfect!! A Favorite Perfume
Not a drop left in the bottle! And that says a lot. Libre is one of my absolute favorite scents. I wasnât used to heavier fragrances but fell in love with this one. I mostly use it as an evening perfume but sometimes also as a more luxurious daytime scent. I also use it as a layering perfume with my other favorite scents. Definitely one of the fragrances Iâve received the most compliments for. A new bottle is ordered and thankfully already on its way home. I donât want to be without this one!đ As mentioned, a slightly heavier scent with depth. But still fresh.
