Define mousse
Headon Define Mousse is absolutely my favorite product from the series I got to try! It works so well for my hair. I have used it after showering and also together with heatless curls, and the result was really great. My hair didn’t get frizzy but instead nicely defined, with less frizz and also more volume. Provides Hold and Volume
This mousse provides good hold and volume for my styling. I'm trying to learn how to get curls with an airstyler and haven't quite mastered it yet… but the curls hold significantly better with the mousse than without. In my straight hair, the curls usually only last a few minutes, so I definitely notice a difference with the product. I prefer mousse over, for example, hairspray and like that the hair gets hold without feeling too stiff. It does give a slightly tighter feeling in the hair, but that's what makes the styling last. It's also positive that the mousse contains heat protection, even though I've so far also used another heat protectant. Just the right amount of moisturizing conditioner🌊🧴
I think this conditioner provides just the right amount of moisture for my hair's needs without weighing it down. My hair has many fine strands and can easily get weighed down by conditioners for dry hair, but this feels sufficiently moisturizing without being too heavy. Works well as an everyday conditioner for me. Just like the shampoo in the same series, it feels fresh and the hair feels soft afterward. However, I supplement with leave-in or a light hair oil after showering for a bit of extra moisture. The scent feels fresh and lasts long in the hair. I have only used the conditioner on the lengths and not on the scalp as the bottle instructions say, since my hair can't really handle conditioner on the scalp. Cleans the hair so that it feels clean and airy without feeling dry at all. There are shampoos that allow me to go one day longer without washing my hair, but at the same time, this shampoo feels moisturizing, and therefore I think it’s a really good everyday shampoo. For someone whose hair doesn’t get greasy as quickly as mine, it’s probably perfect, but it still works very well for me and is probably a bit gentler in the long run. I also think the hair gets a nice shine after washing. My scalp, which easily reacts to products and is generally sensitive, felt good with the shampoo and was kept in check. The scent is fresh and smells both “clean” and a bit natural. The scent stays in the hair after washing, but not too strong. I also like that it has a pump cap, which I think is the most practical in the shower. Too gentle mousse for seriously curly hair
I got to test Headon Define mousse, the hair stayed soft and in a way that makes you want to touch it. It doesn’t stick or leave that annoying crispy layer. My long and thick curls already weigh quite a bit, so this mousse’s power falls a bit short. The curls look good right after application, but after a couple of hours the look is more of a frizzy wave. If it’s even a bit foggy or rainy outside, this mousse gives up immediately. Since you have to apply a lot to thick hair, the bottle runs out in just a few weeks. Not great for the wallet. Excellent deep cleanser for thick hair
I have very long, thick, curly hair, and washing it and keeping the scalp clean is often quite a challenge. My scalp gets oily easily, and in thick hair, a lot of styling product residues and impurities build up over the week. The scent is pleasant and doesn’t stay too strong in the hair after washing. Since this is an effectively cleansing shampoo, the natural dryness of the curls is slightly emphasized after washing. The hair feels a bit rough in the shower before conditioner. The third and last product to review from Headon’s products is the mousse. About my hair: I have curly, dry hair, with many and coarse strands. And since I’ve gotten so curly hair (which I didn’t have at all 10 years ago 😅), I don’t really need any specific products to fix the curls (although there are better and worse ones), it usually works with almost anything. Because the curls are there anyway. 😅😅 As I said, I use a variety of products when I occasionally fix the curls. It can be mousse, curl cream, gel, and spray. So with Headon’s mousse, the curls are highlighted and fixed, just like with other products I use. Neither better nor worse. I don’t feel like the hair becomes directly stiff. Not compared to other products I’ve used. But… Those of you with curly hair know that it can be a challenge to brush out curly hair. Especially if you’ve had quite a bit of styling products. But this?! The hair became super, super rough. I do not like that. The hair is like steel wool. 😩😩 I’ve used the mousse once. Good, but not the best.
I recently reviewed the shampoo I got to try, which unfortunately didn’t suit my hair. The conditioner is better! ☺️ As I felt about the appearance of the shampoo, I have the same thoughts and feelings about the conditioner. The look is a bit boring/masculine/unisex. The conditioner comes in a tube with a flip cap = easy to use. The conditioner has the same sweet scent as the shampoo. And I think the scent stays in the hair and gives a pleasant fragrance. ☺️ The consistency was good, I think. As I said, I have curly, dry, coarse hair that needs lots of moisture & oil. As mentioned, the conditioner was better. It moisturizes/conditions but doesn’t fully meet what my hair needs. I always have to use a lot of product when it comes to masks, conditioners, leave-in creams, hair oils, etc. So the fact that I use a lot of Headon’s conditioner has nothing to do with this particular conditioner. It’s simply what my hair needs. So to sum up: Not a terrible conditioner for my hair. But not the very best either. I tested three products from Headon as a Lyko test pilot, and the first to review is the shampoo. So now that it was time to review, I wanted to compare my thoughts/experiences with the product description here on Lyko. And now I notice that the text/appearance on the bottle is not the same. On mine it says: CLENSE. On Lyko (and also when I googled images) I only see: CALM. Is it a newly updated look on the bottle? Or are they two different products? Anyway, my experience with the shampoo is as follows: Appearance: meh… Maybe it’s meant as a unisex product? But I don’t feel very attracted to buying it based on the layout/appearance of the bottle. It feels a bit masculine. Function: great! great! This push cap is top notch! 👌 I’m someone who dislikes every screw cap and prefers flip tops. This is even better! Usage becomes easier than easy, with wet hands in the shower. 10/10. So scent and function/experience: the scent is lovely! Hard to describe, but it smells sweet. Sweet of what, I don’t know. 😅 But unfortunately, the shampoo doesn’t match what my hair needs. I have curly hair. Lots of hair/many strands that are coarse in texture. And my hair needs both moisture & oil. I also have a dry and itchy scalp (which I “treat” with scalp serum). Unfortunately, my hair becomes drier and more tangled from the shampoo. According to the description here on Lyko, the shampoo should moisturize the hair. But no, unfortunately not. I read a long time ago that the more pearlescent a shampoo is, the gentler/better it is for the hair. Which (as you can see) this is not. However, the shampoo is (in my experience) gentle on the scalp. 🙂 It’s supposed to be optimal if you have dandruff. I don’t have dandruff, but tried Head & Shoulders dandruff shampoo once a long time ago. I found that to be more “burning” on the scalp. So Headon’s shampoo feels gentler on the scalp, for a dandruff shampoo. So to summarize: Lovely, sweet scent. Fun with a Swedish (Malmö-based) brand. Vegan-labeled bottle, with simple function when applying. Good mousse that defines the curls. Apply to wet hair and scrunch into the hair. Should not be brushed out. When the hair is dry with a diffuser or air-dried, the hair should be "squeezed" out. This releases the stiff feeling. Works great as mousse for curly hair. Smells really good. Headon Calm Conditioner
This line is gold!! I was initially a bit skeptical about the conditioner since the consistency is quite thin. I need moisture to avoid too much frizz in my curls. And I'm used to moisture = thick consistency. But as soon as I apply the conditioner, it feels like magic in my hair😭 I brush my hair in the shower with conditioner or treatment to be able to detangle it. And it’s so easy to detangle with this conditioner. Even though the consistency is thin and light, it provides moisture and LOTS of shine. I’m so impressed. It also keeps the curls light and really doesn’t weigh them down. Smells really good too. Just like the shampoo, it smells fresh and has a unique, natural scent. Not overwhelming at all. Yesss, this was really good!! I was positively surprised by the whole experience of both shampoo and conditioner. First and foremost, it makes my curly hair so airy and clean! I think this one suits those who have curls or more texture in their hair best. I am very satisfied with this conditioner! It smells very fresh and removes ALL tangles.
