Affordable Vitamin C product, but no visible results for me
I have used Geek & Gorgeous C-Glow daily for exactly three months. The serum has a light texture that absorbs quickly and works well with other skincare. Unfortunately, I did not notice any clear improvement in skin radiance or tone during the test period. I also found the scent quite strong and somewhat reminiscent of fish oil or omega 3, which detracted from the overall impression for me. One aspect I do think is worth highlighting is the product's shelf life. According to the manufacturer, the serum lasts eight months from production and new batches are produced continuously. However, my bottle only had about three months left until the expiration date when I received it. This meant I had to open and start using the product immediately, without the option to plan when I wanted to introduce it into my skincare routine. For me, this is a downside as I prefer to have some flexibility when trying new products. A tip for other users is to store the serum in the refrigerator. I find that it helps the product feel fresh longer, while also giving a cool and pleasant sensation upon application. A potential dupe for SkinCeuticals for a fraction of the price! ๐คฉ
I have previously used SkinCeuticals Vitamin C serum, which costs over 2,000 kr, and have now tried Geek & Gorgeous C-Glow for around 200 kr. And WOW, my first impression is that they feel practically identical! Same consistency, same feel on the skin, and even exactly the same characteristic scent! Itโs a bit special, almost coffee-like, and I know many find it difficult. But for me, it really reminds me of SkinCeuticals. So far, I have only used C-Glow once, so I obviously canโt comment on the results or whether the effect is the same. But based on my first impression, this feels like an incredibly promising dupe for a fantastic but very expensive serum. I will definitely continue to use it and come back with an update on the results. Vitamin-C that doesnโt smell good?!
Geek & Gorgeous C-Glow Serum was one of the serums I received in my lovable along with LayGlow, and it has been very exciting to test. The serum contains 15% vitamin C (ascorbic acid) as well as the antioxidants vitamin E and ferulic acid, which both help to stabilize the vitamin C and protect the skin from external stressors. The product is aimed at all skin types and is supposed to contribute to increased radiance, a more even skin tone, reduced pigmentation spots, and support the skinโs collagen production! โจโจ The first thing that impressed me was the texture. The serum is exactly as light as the brand describes it โ almost completely water-like. It absorbs incredibly quickly into the skin without feeling sticky or heavy. I use about five drops which I first put in the palm of my hand and then gently pat into my face. Although the brand recommends applying the drops directly to the skin, my method works perfectly for meโฃ๏ธ What I noticed immediately was the radiance. The skin gets a very nice glow after application and feels fresh and moisturized. Even though I have quite sensitive skin, which can easily react with redness or acne breakouts when I introduce new products, I have not experienced any negative reactions after a few days of use at all. That is definitely a big plus โญ๏ธ What, however, detracts from the overall impression is the scent. I find it hard to pinpoint exactly what it smells like, but unfortunately, I donโt think it smells particularly good. The scent feels quite strange and is not something I look forward to when applying the product. It does disappear after a while and is fully manageable, but since the user experience is an important part of skincare, it still affects my rating quite a bit.. In summary, Geek & Gorgeous C-Glow Serum is a serum with a fantastic texture, quick absorption, and a really nice glow. It also seems to be gentle even for sensitive skin. Stable vitamin C serum that does not irritate my skin. Contains 15% ascorbic acid and also ferulic acid which stabilizes the ascorbic acid. Opened packaging is durable for about 3 months if stored in the fridge. But with daily use, itโs no problem. It should be clear in color and mine have never oxidized. This serum has the classic sausage juice smell๐ญ But you get used to it quickly๐ My skin becomes clearer and gets a nice glow with daily use. Light serum
Of the ones I've tried so far, this seems to be a good vitamin C serum. Looking forward to seeing if it shows any results๐ฅฐ No irritation or anything like that on my skin. The only negative is that the consistency is very runny, like water. Which makes it a bit difficult to apply without it running off your fingers and skin. Skin type: oily/combination Skin issues: tendency to deep, underground pimples, Rosacea, PIE. As a person with Rosacea, I have always been afraid to try vitamin C for fear that my skin wouldnโt tolerate itโฆ so I never took the chance. Iโve had skin problems since my youth, and even prescription creams havenโt given the effect I hoped for. So what was a vitamin C serum supposed to do anyway? After years of problems, I thought, screw it! โฆ and I am simply blown away. This has been a total game-changer for me. As someone who has been forced to be above average interested in skincare, I did my research: ๐งด contains 15% pure L-ascorbic acid in a light, water-based formula (perfect for oily skin girlies) with a low pH of 3.2โ3.4. This provides optimal conditions for absorption into the skin. The low pH can also contribute to a mild exfoliating effect for some (at least thatโs how it feels for me). I havenโt had a SINGLE acne breakout (โผ๏ธknock on wood) since I started with C-Glow, and my skin feels significantly less oily throughout the day. Vitamin C is best known for its effect on pigmentation spots (PIH), but personally, I feel it has had a big effect on my post-inflammatory redness (PIE). The red spots after acne used to last for several months (๐ข), but now they have faded significantly and new ones disappear much faster than before. Together with ferulic acid and vitamin E, the formula is more stable and provides an effective antioxidant combination. What has perhaps surprised me the most is that I also experience less general redness in my skin. With rosacea, I was afraid a strong vitamin C serum would make my skin worse, but for me, it has actually been the opposite. I believe the reduction in PIE has helped contribute to this. My opinion: My skin hasnโt become perfect in two months, but after two months I have better skin than Iโve had in my entire adult life. WARNINGโผ๏ธโ ๏ธ If you have rosacea or very sensitive skin, you should tread carefully. Iโve been lucky to tolerate it well, but that concentration of L-ascorbic acid is too strong for many in this group. Temporary tingling/stinging and slight redness are to be expected, but if the skin burns or becomes clearly irritated, thatโs a sign of ๐โ๐ผ. I must be clear that I have oily/combination skin which likely contributes to my tolerance. We all have different skin, and what works for me doesnโt necessarily work for youโฆ but if youโre going to invest in a vitamin C serum, I recommend starting here. A refrigerator is absolutely optimal if you want to extend its shelf life, but itโs not a must; a cool cabinet outside the bathroom also works really well ๐ซถ๐ผ The bathroom usually works fine too if you have a cabinet, but keep in mind that heat and steam from the shower can affect stability over time.
