Very good but too quick on my skin
Good formula that quickly absorbs into the skin, a bit too quickly on my skin, they say to use a small pea-sized amount for the whole face, but I can't spread it out more than on, for example, half my forehead before it sinks into the skin 😅 so for my skin, it takes quite a bit of product to get it everywhere, so it might get a bit too expensive in the long run, otherwise a good product that does what it’s supposed to with decent strength and feels better with retinal for my acne-prone skin, unfortunately a small selection of retinal products at a good price point, but I will try Geeks & gorgeous A-game retinal and see if it’s easier to spread9500 views- 7 monthsGG retinal is super! One of the few retinoid products that feels light on the skin BUT I do think that it almost always (applies to all kinds of serums from various brands) takes more than the recommended amount in all descriptions... I use a-game 20 anyway and it feels significantly more powerful than this one from TO, even though both are 0.2%. But 20 is the strongest and it comes in 2 more variants. GG also helps significantly better against acne, at least my skin thinks so 😀2 likes

Stains skin and textiles!
No, this was not a hit. Very strong, and that's just how it is. I am tolerant, but it was on the edge even for me. The biggest reason why I am immediately stopping using the product is its color. Bright yellow, and it stains heavily. Both on textiles (yellow tone left on pillowcase even after washing) but also on my skin, which has taken on a faint yellow tone after use.2303 views- Customer service at Lyko3 monthsHey Lisa! ❤ The retinal, which has a naturally yellow color, can in some cases temporarily "settle" a bit on the skin. This can be due to the product not being fully absorbed and how much is applied. Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your experience after using it. If you want tips on something else, if you don't already have one that you think suits you better, our skin therapists are available in the Lyko app under the search function - BeautyScan 🥰 There you can take our skin test. Have a nice day 🌞

Choose in
I use The Ordinary - Retinol 1% and can have it every day without any problems, which makes me a bit tempted to switch to this. How do I go about the transition? Can you use both on different days or how does it work? Thanks30 views- Farmaceut på Lyko1 dayHey Issy😊 Thanks for your question – how fun that you’re curious to try The Ordinary Retinal 0.2% Emulsion!✨ Since both Retinol 1% and Retinal 0.2% are active A-vitamin products, we recommend that you only use one at a time – not in parallel on different days. The reason is that they both work in similar ways in the skin and the combination can become too powerful, even if your skin is used to retinol. Here’s how you can think about the transition: - Finish using Retinol 1% before you start with Retinal 0.2%. - Wait a couple of days (preferably 2–3 evenings) to let your skin rest a bit between the products. - Then start using Retinal 0.2% 1–2 evenings a week to begin with, and gradually increase if your skin tolerates it well. Retinal (retinaldehyde) is a more advanced A-vitamin than retinol and works faster in the skin, so it can be a bit more potent – that’s why it’s wise to gradually acclimate your skin, even if you’re already using retinol without issues. Don’t forget sunscreen during the day. Good luck with your new routine and hope you have a super nice Friday🌞

Absolutely amazing product
Absolutely amazing product - but be careful not to get it in the hair around your face when applying it. It has A LOT of color in it. I managed to get a bit in my cheek stubble during application, and overnight it turned pinkish. Even my hairdresser commented on it, and we agreed that it's great that it's June and Pride month. :D1438 viewsto leave a comment - 3 months
Question
Can this be combined with niacinamide serum and hyaluronic acid, and in what order should they be used if so? Best regards, Zelda.2112 views- 3 monthsIt's very individual, and for me, it works really well to combine just as described. Also, azelaic acid together with retinal works great for me, but you should definitely try it out cautiously. Also, be aware that reactions can take time and may not come immediately.🥰

Upcoming Legislation
Hi, Do you know if the legislation coming into effect at the end of the year affects retinol products like Retinal?2107 views- 4 monthsJust retinol as far as I know.. If you are referring to the one that says the strength cannot be stronger than 0.3%.. Unnecessary overly cautious law..1 likes

Dosage
If you have acclimated your skin according to the instructions, i.e., using it 2 days a week now. Is that like the max they recommend, and what about you? Thinking because it says "up to" two days/week. So you can't increase it to every day? I thought that was the goal with retinol, to acclimate the skin so that you can use it on a daily basis?1984 views- Farmaceut på Lyko1 dayHey Issy😊 Feel free to check out the reply I just wrote to you under your previous comment✨

Dilute?
Hi! I am a beginner with retinol. I have used The Ordinary's 2% granactive retinoid emulsion and my skin loved it and got used to that serum in a week. I am looking at The Ordinary's Retinal 2% emulsion. I am well aware that it is their absolute strongest retinol product and I wonder if it can be diluted with a moisturizer and then slowly acclimate the skin to it? Which moisturizer do you recommend in that case? Best regards, Pauline2363 views- Customer service at Lyko4 monthsHey Pauline! This is one of the active retinoids and it transforms quickly in the skin. Therefore, it’s important to acclimate the skin or use the cream under the serum for it to work slower ☺️ Take care! ✨

Good
Good product, potent. The only downside is the yellow color that stains your hair if you get too close to the scalp.2660 viewsto leave a comment - 6 monthsRating: 5 out of 5
Wow
I am pleasantly surprised that it doesn't irritate, even with its high strength when used wisely. I also see the first results!4007 viewsto leave a comment - 6 months
Which should I not combine
Hi! I have dry but oily skin, a bit wrinkly (need something that makes the skin firmer, as well as pore holes and superficial blood vessels. I have glycolic acid 7%. I want to buy argireline 10% and retinal 0.2 emulsion and bha+aha peeling solution. What do you think I should use and what can I not mix from the products I write here? Thankful for the answer❤️3773 views- Customer service at Lyko6 monthsHey Mira! ☺️ It can really be a challenge to find the right products in the beauty jungle! The OrdinaryRetinal 0,2% Emulsion 15 ml
Retinal 0.2% Emulsion is a very high strength retinoid formula that rapidly firms and smooths skin, while noticeably reducing the appearance of dark spots. It helps refine skin texture, while targeting uneven tone and boosting luminosity for brighter, more even-looking skin.
The serum-textured formula is suitable for all skin types, and is recommended for experienced users of retinoids. If you are new to using retinoids, we recommend exploring the Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion, or the Retinol 0.2% in Squalane, and progressing to higher strengths as your skin builds tolerance.
Retinal (also known as retinaldehyde) is a well-studied retinoid that offers more efficient delivery of the most direct form of vitamin A molecules than retinol, thanks to being 1 conversion step closer to the bioactive form of vitamin A.
With a high 0.2% concentration of retinal, Retinal 0.2% Emulsion is able to noticeably improve skin firmness and improve the look of lines and wrinkles, including crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead wrinkles.
Retinal 0.2% Emulsion also contains synthetic oat analogues (specifically avenanthramide - a key beneficial component found in oats). This ingredient is known to help target skin discomfort and dryness, which are common concerns associated with retinoid use.
The bright yellow hue of the formula comes from the high concentration of retinal, which is naturally yellow. This may leave some residual colour on skin and light coloured fabrics, which can be minimised by allowing the product to fully absorb, and skin to dry before making contact with light-coloured fabrics. This residual colour can be removed by washing skin with water, and washing fabrics with your regular detergent according to their care instructions.
Användning:
Apply a pea-sized amount to clean, dry face and neck in the evening. Avoid the eye contour and contact with eyes. Start with a weekly application and gradually increase to twice a week, a few days apart, as tolerated by your skin. Apply a moisturizer afterwards. Do not use with other retinoid products. Use sun protection during the day.
If irritation occurs, rinse off, cease use, and consult a physician. Use only as directed on unbroken skin. Patch testing prior to use is advised. Refer to our website for a patch test guide, regimen guide, and product compatibility. Keep out of reach of children.
