Wallet-friendly quality 😍
A serum based on growth factors (a kind of plant-based proteins, I think) that minimizes and repairs visible damage to the skin and seems to be preventive against signs of aging. ✨ But why should one buy products with growth factors (like EGF, IGF & TGF) instead of, for example, retinol? If you have sensitive skin, there is a risk of reacting to retinol, while products like this are gentler - but still crazy effective 😍 The serum is said to combat fine lines and wrinkles, loss of firmness and elasticity, rough skin texture, and at the same time contribute to a complexion full of radiance. ✨😍 Does the serum live up to its promises? Yes! Haven't met my expectations
I've been using serums for many years and have tried quite a few, including many from one of my favorite brands - The Ordinary. However, the GF 15% Solution unfortunately didn’t meet my expectations. Despite its impressive ingredient list and the promise of targeting multiple signs of aging, I didn’t notice any visible improvement in my skin during the time I used it. The texture was also a letdown for me — it's very watery, which made it hard to apply evenly, and it left my skin feeling a bit sticky afterward. For a product that supports hydration and natural barrier, I expected a smoother, more pleasant finish. While it may work for others, especially those new to growth factor serums, it simply didn’t deliver the results I was hoping for. A discreet bottle with much bigger ambitions than its appearance reveals ✨
The Ordinary GF 15% Solution is one of those products that made me curious right from the start. The packaging is typically minimalistic for The Ordinary – almost clinical – but it’s the content and especially how the skin feels over time that has made it interesting to me. The serum has a light texture that spreads nicely over the skin and quickly becomes a natural step in the routine. I especially appreciate that it feels moisturizing without being heavy or sticky, which makes it easy to combine with other skincare. This is not a product where I expected a dramatic before-and-after result in a few days. The nice thing has rather been the small changes. With regular use, I experience that the skin feels softer, plumper, and healthier, and that the skin surface has gained a smoother and fresher feel. Something I really appreciate is that the serum feels so uncomplicated to use. No excessive luxury, no spectacular packaging – just a formula that gets the job done. The dropper works well, although I personally think a pump would make dosing even smoother and more elegant. And maybe that’s exactly where this product wins me over: it doesn’t try to impress on the bathroom shelf. It rather lets the skin do that. Direct vitamin C (especially pure forms like L-ascorbic acid and ethylated ascorbic acid). Strong retinoids, if the skin becomes irritated by the combination. Fourth bottle?
I think I just ordered my fourth bottle of this serum. That says a lot about how much I love it. My skin type: oily in the T-zone, but has become a bit drier with age otherwise, and I have some fine lines that come with dryness. Skin issues: slightly clogged, not very acne-prone. I have rosacea and get eczema easily. I use Differin as an acne treatment to prevent clogged skin (comedonal acne), and I find my skin is less reactive when I use this serum before applying the acne treatment. The product has a light and runny texture, but not watery. It has a classic propanediol texture that feels a bit “oily” or smooth but absorbs without leaving a film on the skin. It’s also easy to spread over the skin. Fragrance-free. Gives a nice subtle glow. It works with all my other serums and creams, as well as makeup, and doesn’t pill (the charm of propanediol). I use about 3-5 drops depending on what else I’ve used before and what I’m applying after, which is enough for face and neck. I should apply it over the décolleté just to see how effective it is on texture. My skin reacts very well to this serum. My rosacea has calmed down significantly and is less reactive. I think the fine lines under my eyes have smoothed out a bit. The skin tone and texture have become more even and smooth. I mostly use this in the evening, but also in the mornings when I’m not going out/going to work and use vitamin C serum and toner. I have nothing negative to say. After cleansing, apply GF Solution 15% Serum followed by eye serum and face cream, and finish with SPF. In the evening, you can instead alternate your routine between retinol and peptides. One evening you use retinol after cleansing and follow up with a moisturizing cream. The next evening you skip the retinol and instead apply Multi-Peptide + HA followed by eye cream and day cream. This way, your skin gets to benefit from all the products without using them in the same routine – especially if your skin is a bit sensitive 💛 If you want to combine the products in the same routine instead, that also works well for the peptide serums: first apply GF Solution 15% Serum and then Multi-Peptide + HA Serum, followed by eye serum and face cream. In the evening, you can then add your retinol 0.5% after one of the peptide serums and finish with cream. Combining all three might be a bit much for the skin 🤍 One tip is to introduce the combination gently and see how your skin reacts.
