I only used gel cleanser before until I understood why two different cleansers are used. 🧴 Step 1 oil cleansing Oil helps to dissolve things that are oil-based, like SPF, makeup, and sebum. I use ma:nyo Pure Cleansing Oil and massage it onto dry skin before adding water and emulsifying, then I rinse my face. 🫧 Step 2 water-based cleansing After that, I use COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser to remove residue and water-soluble dirt. So it’s not about washing the skin twice as hard, but about using two steps that complement each other. And that’s important, because overly aggressive or excessive cleansing can instead disrupt the skin barrier. That doesn’t mean everyone needs to double cleanse. But if you use SPF or makeup during the day, it can be an interesting step to try in the evening. In the morning, I only use gel cleanser. Afterwards, I gently pat the skin with a soft towel instead of rubbing it dry. I don’t dry my face completely but leave it a bit damp when I continue with my skin-flooding and the rest of my skincare routine.
