1945

  • ● Hairdresser Frans Lyko arrives in Dalarna, Sweden, after spending six years as a prisoner in a concentration camp

1952

  • Frans Lyko opens a hair salon for men in Vansbro

1971

  • Frans' son Stefan opens the salon Hår & Skägg (Hair & Bears) in the neighboring town Dala-Järna

2003

  • Stefan Lyko launches the website Lyko.se, where the salon's products are displayed. We begin to receive e-mail inquiries about having products shipped to their homes and start sending orders on demand

2005

  • se develops and gets a real e-commerce platform with payment solutions

2008

  • Hår & Skägg AB changes name to Lyko Hair AB
  • Stefan's son Rickard Lyko takes over as CEO
  • se is appointed Pricerunner's e-commerce store of the year for the first time

2010

  • Lyko moves to Vansbro, where Frans started his hairdressing business almost 60 years earlier, to get a larger warehouse and office

2011

  • Lyko launches its own product for the first time
  • Opens warehouse store in Vansbro

2012

  • Makes e-commerce more efficient by investing in packaging machines, robots and rollers to optimize packaging and expand package flow capacity

2013

  • Invests in a new digital platform and modern webshop that adapts to each customer
  • Buys “Hårvårdsbaren” and “Klippoteket” in Norrkoping
  • Lyko is appointed ”Gazelle Company” by the Swedish financial newspaper Dagens Industri

2014

  • Lyko merges with “Bellbox” hair care chain. In the merger, Lyko gets 30 wholly owned physical stores with salons in Sweden and Norway
  • Buys “Diva”, consisting of three hair salons in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Alingsås
  • Opens flagship store in Täby Centrum and launches a store concept

2015

  • Reaches 33 wholly owned physical stores with lounges through continued expansion
  • Buys the hair salon “YOU” in Stockholm

2016

  • Launches the professional skin care product segment
  • Launches Lyko Concept
  • The number of stores increases to 36 stores

2017

  • Buys “Affection Kosmetik” in Karlstad
  • Launches Lyko Social, a digital platform that connects hairdressers with consumers who are interested in hair care and beauty
  • Joanna Hummel is appointed new CEO
  • Lyko is listed Nasdaq First North Premier
  • Lyko launches Lyko Booking, a booking system for internal and external use

2018

  • Lyko starts up in Finland
  • Wins E-Commerce of the Year 2018 at the Swedish Retail Awards
  • Lyko opens stores in Falun, Sundsvall and a specialized concept store with skincare; Lyko Concept Skin in Stockholm
  • Starts partnership with 'ELLE Galan' in Sweden and becomes main sponsor of Let's Dance on TV4 Sweden
  • Starts collaboration with Instabox and installs package box in several Lyko stores
  • Launches Skin Test online, where customers get personalized recommendations from Lyko's dermatologists
  • Kenneth Bengtsson is appointed new Chairman of the Board

2019

  • Launches the new store concept K19 and expansion of Lyko Flagship Store in Westfield Mall of Scandinavia
  • Opens the largest Lyko store in the world, in the hometown Vansbro
  • Lyko has a turnover of over SEK 1 billion
  • Lyko starts up in Denmark
  • Lyko is appointed best workplace in commerce 2019 by the Swedish Commercial Employees' Union
