This is a shampoo I use as the first step in double cleansing; first I use this one to remove hair products and dirt – the result is a clean, fresh scalp and clean lengths. Then I use a more moisturizing shampoo for extra cleansing but also hydration. I have used this conditioner every time I washed my hair in the last seven weeks, and I am sold!! 🙌🏼 Why haven't I tried this earlier? A bit about my hair: I have long, thick, and very full hair with a mix of waves and curls. Lots of frizz, unruliness, dryness, and dullness. Therefore, I rely on good care products, both in the shower and afterwards, to avoid looking like a fluffy sheep or Hagrid from Harry Potter 🤭 This hydrating conditioner suits me perfectly! One of the things I like best about it is how light and fluid it is compared to many others. At first, I was a bit scared of this and thought this formula couldn't possibly give me enough moisture and care, but I was thoroughly wrong. The consistency makes it super easy to distribute evenly throughout the hair, and without having to use tons of product. I don't know if it's magic or how it works – it just does! A tip from Kevin Murphy is not to rinse out the conditioner completely but to leave 30-40% of the product in the hair after washing. Of course, I had to try this (even though I was a bit afraid the hair would feel greasy or weighed down), but it worked SO well! I always use nourishing products like leave-ins, curl creams, hair oils, etc., after washing my hair, but since I started doing this, I have to use much less product because this gives such great results 💜 I have used this in combination with the matching shampoo and detox shampoo from the same brand. This shampoo has been a staple in my shower for seven weeks now, so I thought it was time for a review. My hair is thick and full with both waves and curls. It can therefore quickly feel dull, dry, frizzy, and unmanageable – and needs a lot of moisture and care. One advantage is that it doesn’t get greasy quickly, and I only need to wash my hair a couple of times a week, despite having a somewhat dry and sensitive scalp. I really liked this one, and there’s no doubt it gives the hair a good dose of moisture. My hair feels so soft and clean after using this. Because it’s so moisturizing, it can weigh the hair down a bit, but that’s minimal and in my case contributes to a smoother and shinier look! ✨ It smells really nice without being too strong or overpowering, and the scent fades quite quickly. It’s gentle on the scalp and hasn’t caused any irritation. Together with the simple but classic packaging, this leads to a luxurious experience. The only downside is that I have to use a bit more product than usual to get my hair properly clean, so it’s not very economical. All in all, I’m very satisfied and can definitely recommend this! I've been using this detox shampoo every 3-4 washes for seven weeks now, and I have a good impression of it. It cleans the hair and removes product buildup very well. It dries out the hair a bit, as you can expect from a detox shampoo, but not more than similar products. Together with the Hydrate-Me conditioner from Kevin Murphy, this dryness is no longer noticeable. 💆🏽♀️ My scalp is on the dry side and a bit sensitive, so I'm always a bit skeptical about trying new hair products, especially when they're deep cleansing. This caused no irritation, itching, or increased dryness, but I felt it was on the milder side and could have cleansed the scalp a bit more. That's the only thing I have to criticize, but again, this is perfect for the more sensitive as well. Good product, but not for me
Kevin Murphy's moisturizing conditioner does what it’s supposed to and a bit more. The product contains a lighter type of silicones, is more concentrated than conditioners you find in grocery stores, and has a high content of nourishing ingredients. I used the conditioner with and without Kevin Murphy's detox shampoo, and with moisturizing shampoo from the same brand. Especially after using the detox shampoo, I would say the conditioner is necessary. My hair is typically Nordic, untreated, and a bit dry. I didn’t feel the conditioner weighed it down. The hair became soft and shiny. The cap was impossible for me to open. So I either had to use a tool or unscrew it. That’s too inconvenient. It also smells strongly of perfume, and the scent lingers. It smells of bergamot, lemon, wood, and spices, not like the typical sweet floral scent many other shampoos and conditioners have. There’s no doubt that Kevin Murphy is a very good brand with very good products. But for me, this conditioner is not a necessity right now; the design is too poor and the scent too strong. If your hair really needs care, I recommend Kevin Murphy’s moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. You can also try using it as a hair mask and leave the product in your hair for 10-15 minutes, but as a leave-in it’s too heavy. This shampoo helped me get all the silicone out of my hair because I had used a silicone-based shampoo before I started using Kevin Murphy’s shampoo from the Rinse Me series. Silicone prevents the hair strand from absorbing moisture. (There’s also a review about how I experienced their shampoo and conditioner.) The hair can feel a bit tangled after using this product, but after regular shampooing and conditioning, the hair is like new again! A great product that I will continue to use about once a week to keep my hair fresh. A plus is also that it has a wonderful subtle scent. The downside, however, is the packaging. Made my hair so soft and fresh
Since I had previously used a silicone-based shampoo, I had to give this shampoo some time before all the silicone was washed out of my hair, which made my hair very rough and felt like straw at first, but when I combined this shampoo with their detox shampoo, the process went faster, so after a few washes my hair became soft and fresh again after using it, and now it’s perfect for my dry and frizzy hair without feeling dirty faster. I also notice that my hair gets more volume. I combine this shampoo with the conditioner from the same series 👌🏻 However, the shampoo has a very special and intense scent. It’s said to smell like bergamot (citrus) combined with exotic fruit extracts (including kakadu plum). But I also think the scent smells a bit spicy and not at all like pure citrus. It definitely doesn’t smell like the classic shampoos but has a heavier and spicier scent that lingers in the hair like a perfume. So if you have trouble with stronger scents, this is not for you. Personally, I can’t quite decide what I think about the scent. Whether I like it or not, but I like it more and more the longer I use the shampoo. My husband asked if I bought a new perfume 😅 The downside is the packaging though. Not bad at all
There is no doubt that this cleansing shampoo works very well. But it has some challenges. I have typical Nordic hair – very many, but very thin strands. The hair is untreated and I rarely use products. But when I do, this cleansing shampoo would be a good choice. I struggled a lot to open the cap. And this applies to all bottles of this variant from Kevin Murphy. I had to use a flat iron to flip it open. And the cap remains difficult to open. So if you absolutely want to buy this product, and maybe aren’t very strong in your fingers, you should pour the contents into another bottle. The scent does not work for me at all. Because if you are like me and grew up with an old-fashioned cabin without running water, the scent profile is composed in a way that can remind you of a type of lime product used in connection with those. Those who know, know. I also find the scent strong, and it lingers for a long time. My hair became clean and nice, and I had no reactions. I used it together with the Hydrate-me.rinse shampoo and conditioner from the same brand. For me, it foamed very well, was easy to rinse out, and the hair did not get tired. But as mentioned, my hair is quite thin – that might be the reason. Sometimes it’s hard to give the right number of stars to a product – because one thing is what I think about it for personal use, and another is how it works generally. The product is very good and deserves 5 stars, but for me personally, it didn’t fit so well.
