I actually bought this foundation because it was cheap and I needed a new one, but wow! I really like it. I find that the finish feels light on the skin and has a glow, it’s hard to get it cakey! I also tend to switch products now and then but find that this one has worked well with most skincare and other makeup products! It doesn’t provide quite the same coverage, but the feel on the skin is surprisingly similar with a natural, skin-like finish. What I appreciate most is that it moisturizes better than several clean beauty foundations I’ve tested in the same category. The skin feels soft and comfortable all day without tightening, which is unusual for me with dry skin. For me, it has become a really good everyday foundation. It provides just the right amount of evening out, feels light on the skin, and also costs only a fraction of Born This Way. An extra plus is that the ingredient list feels cleaner than many traditional foundations. Loved it before, but not anymore
I loved the old formulation of Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation, but the new one is unfortunately a big disappointment for me. It oxidizes throughout the day and becomes noticeably more orange, transfers onto everything it touches (despite both powder and setting spray), and the iconic matte finish is gone. I understand that the reformulation is probably due to new ingredient requirements, but the result unfortunately doesn’t feel like the same foundation. Among the biggest changes is that cyclopentasiloxane – the silicone that contributed to the matte finish – has been removed. They’ve also added hyaluronic acid for more moisture, niacinamide (which many react to), and introduced a new “polymer mesh matrix” that’s supposed to give a more natural result. For my skin, I unfortunately find that this makes the foundation transfer much more easily, settle more into pores and lines, and get a finish that feels more oily than matte. Not flattering in any way. Really sad, because this has been one of my favorites for many years. PS: If you’ve used this before and are buying it again now, you might need a different shade – I did. What a superb foundation ❤️
As a Lyko influencer tester, I have had the chance to try this foundation for a few weeks, and it has quickly become a favorite in my makeup collection, it is so nice. I would say it has medium coverage, and that goes a long way, which I think is great. It stays nicely all day and my skin looks blurred and more even. I have large pores and really appreciate that ❤️. If you are looking for a foundation that is both blurring and provides coverage without looking cakey on the skin, this is a foundation for you. Maybelline BB Cream SPF50 x Smartson
Tested for a few weeks in different ways. Shade 30 looks more yellow at first, but fits okay for my neutral light facial skin, maybe a shade darker 🌞. Skin type: combination and surface dry that can get a bit shinier towards the end of the day. Usually use separate SPF and CC Cream from Lumene which I like. This BB Cream feels like a moisturizing hybrid of skincare, SPF, and foundation. Rich texture, easy to blend, but doesn’t fully cover my pimples. The finish is nicely dewy but feels sticky – doesn’t fully dry. With a lot of powder it easily gets cakey in some areas, without powder the coverage melts away after a few hours, so it’s a balancing act. Scent: Don’t see perfume in the ingredient list, but I still experience a stronger scent (unfortunately in a stinging way). There’s also something in the product that irritates my eyes/nose if I have it close, so both run... Nice finish, but hard to use as SPF for me over the whole face (can’t have it near eyes/nose). I've been trying this for a few days now and really liked it. I have dry skin, and because of that, many full-coverage foundations don't work for me.
